You know what would be really cool about that stage idea?

If the Junks stage's flight path was different based on music. So we'd be spending a lot more time on the Bionis' Leg if Gaur Plains was playing for example.

One thing to remember though is that there's two versions of this game, so there could be a Xenoblade stage for each. I was thinking it'd make sense for the Wii U to have a Bionis stage (HD graphics are suitable for sweeping vistas, plus this version has a blue logo) while the 3ds version has a Mechonis stage (3d makes a background with a lot of moving parts pretty interesting, plus: red logo).

The 3DS won't have a Xenoblade stage but it will have a Golden Sun stage that will act as a homestage to both Isaac and Shulk on that platform while the Xenoblade stage will be their homestage on the Wii U.

Could this be the secret of the Banado?
"The power of positive thinking. Within the Banado's peel lies the hopes of millions, their futures hinging on the mercy of its all-powerful rind.--"

"Did you say "All-Powerful Reyn?"

"No, Reyn. No I didn't."

'THIS. IS THE POWER OF THE BANADO!"

Having seen it suggested a few places now, I think I agree that Junks is the best choice for a Wii U Xenoblade stage. It would allow for several locations to be worked in, and it would be a legit floating platform instead of some forced/faked floating island.

Although I agree with this sentiment, there could be stages that make sense as floating platforms. Raguel Lake, if we wanted to do a Gaur Plains/Bionis' leg level, actually did have a series of platforms strewn about it. Eryth Sea was nothing BUT platforms, and Prison Island was a legit floating island.

I think they should do Bionis' Leg, but every time you play on the stage you'll get a different variant based on varies areas. Gaur Plains, Tirkin Headquarters, Raguel Lake, Viliera Hill, etc. With the top platform of Spiral Valley serving as the Final Destination version.

Are you saying this sounds too much like this or this?

Either way, this is a funny comparison.
Holy balls, you found those? XD But yeah, around 1:40 in You Will Know Our Names always reminded me of those tracks for some reason.

I really like the idea for having Junks be the platform for a traveling stage, and I also really like the idea for having its flight pattern change when different music is playing. I can see that being problematic if people just don't want certain tracks playing (for whatever ungodly reason they would have for not living Xenoblade music) but want to see other parts of Bionis for longer too.

I just think that revealing Shulk at E3 is a perfect opportunity that would feel weird just skipping over.
In truth, I don't think they'll show Shulk at E3. He's more popular in Japan, so showing him at a western event wouldn't be the best time.

He's pretty popular here, too. I mean, they even had a petition to bring his game to NA. And IIRC, it sold the most copies in NA than anywhere else.

If Nintendo and Monolith Soft are going to reveal more info about X at E3, then a confirmation of Shulk and/or the new protagonist would make perfect sense.

In terms of Smash requests, Shulk is more of a powerhouse in Japan; he's probably within their top five. He still has a great deal of requests in other areas, however. And yes, Xenoblade sold better in the US than in Japan.

I wish that this is the case. I can see this happen and not at the same time. Though, it makes sense to do this. I will feel more optimistic for Shulk if Nintendo's conference is on June 10.
I just hope that we don't see Chrom at E3... Ike's reveal kinda soured on that for me in this regard (glad to see him back, but I hope that he doesn't prelude to Chrom at E3). Nothing against Chrom, but I much rather see Shulk.

To be fair Lucas also was showed in the second trailer for Brawl at E3 2007 alongside Ike, PT & Diddy Kong. So If something as obscure to a western audience like Lucas can appear at E3, I don't see any problems for Shulk getting revealed at this E3.

Going to go full nerd on you....

Lucas was shown in October. The only new characters in the 2007 E3 trailer was the characters revealed at E3 2006 (except for Snake and maybe Meta-Knight)

Only way I see Shulk being revealed at E3 is if he is in the build that they'll be using for the invitational/demos.

I can see Shulk get confirmed mainly to generate some hype with him, promote X, and to celebrate Xenoblade's 4 year anniversary in Japan. Nintendo's conference is on June 10, right?

An anniversary of 4 years? That's not exactly anything to make a fuss about. I don't know, people always say a reveal could happen to drum up X hype, but I mean... showing a good amount of X info would do that much better. It's not impossible, and obviously both can be done together, but Smash characters are going to be shown to generate Smash hype, and other characters could do more than Shulk.

Shulk isn't the most well-known character but I think he would receive a far more positive reception and be more easily welcomed unlike WFT.

I think that he has a decent shot at getting revealed at E3. Again, he could hypothetically promote X footage and, although he wouldn't generate as much hype as a character like Ridley, he would generate some hype among the fanbase (I mean, people got hyped for Wii Fit Trainer). I see that he has a decent shot at E3 if he is in SSB4.

Exactly.
Xenoblade fans would appreciate his inclusion as they would either like Shulk or Xenoblade itself. While he isn't the most well-known character, he still has a large chunk of demand to him.
Casuals might not know who he is, but they would be appealed by Shulk's Monado (probably "freaking laser sword" reactions) and even the music alone (I know several people who want him in purely for the music).

Ah yes, Shulk certainaly has the "cool factor" going for him, which could easily win over casuals. If I remember correctly, when Pit was first revealed for Brawl he was actually tied for first with Meta Knight on Nintendo's official 'Favourite Newcomer Poll' or something like that, and this was when Pit was relatively unknown with only moderate amount of requests. I think it's pretty clear that Pit's "cool factor" won many over (including myself haha), so Shulk is in a similar boat.

When I saw the E3 2006 trailer for Brawl, I was won over by Meta Knight's and Pit's coolness (eventually, they both became two of my favorite video game characters). When I saw them in the trailer, I thought, "Wow! These guys look awesome! I can't wait to play as them!"
Shulk is sort of like the Pit of Brawl; he is unknown by casuals, but his coolness factor will win them over.

I suppose it could be decided that his "cool" is high enough to be appealing without context, especially if the trailer does a lot to show how different his sword is. Design wise, I don't think he really grabs too much attention though.

Besides the giant laser sword he's wielding, anyway. :b I didn't really know jack about Xenoblade when I first started playing it (before I spoiled EVERYTHING for myself), and what immediately grabbed my attention was just how cool the Monado seemed.

...And Dunban. Dunban manages to take a girly haircut and the gayest talent art in the world and still bleed testosterone, so if nothing else I would have kept playing to see more of him being awesome.

Yeah, before I played the game, and even now, I tend to feel that the biggest bit of star power in Xenoblade is in the Monado. Long before I had ever played the game or had even seen a single character from the game, I could recognize the Monado instantly just from seeing it around the 'net (even if I might have called it the "Xenoblade").

Well that's why I said they'd have to focus on highlighting the Monado right? :p When I say design I mean his own actual personal design.

I have never played Xenoblade but Shulk seems like a cool character so I definitely show some support for him.

I also consider him very likely since Sakurai is a fan and the leak.

Also, I am glad Ike is back so people will finally stop saying Shulk should inherent Ike's gameplay.
We're not out of the woods yet. People who are incredibly ignorant of Shulk or don't want him in general will make up the excuse that he shouldn't be in Smash as he "could be an Ike clone."

So, this has probably been touched on, but assuming we get Xenoblade assists (and Shulk isn't one of them, by virtue of being playable), who or what would make a good one?

I say Reyn, Melia, or Riki.
Reyn would come out and say, "NOW IT'S REYN TIME!" and help defend the player from gaining damage.
Melia would use various magic projectiles and fire them at her opponents. She would end with Burst End or Mind Blast.
Riki would cause a random effect to anyone that is around him (such as freeze, sleep, burn, etc.).

Riki would be an amazing assist trophy. Although I do really like the Reyn and Melia ideas as well. I just keep picturing Riki saying "Sidekicks do good!" (or something to that effect) right before he leaves.

I always felt Sharla would make a fun assist as she could either heal or attack at random.

I still think Riki has the best chance, unless Sakurai wants to ruin it for everyone that hasn't played the game and include 7. (Brawl spoiled so much of Mother 3 that I'm almost expecting it.)

Also, I am glad Ike is back so people will finally stop saying Shulk should inherent Ike's gameplay.
That would make zero sense. Shulk is NOT a big dude, he is noticeably smaller then the other male homs in your main party, in fact. His fighting style and the properties of the monado (and I'm not even talking about arts and things like special moves) wouldn't match at all.

7 is...
Fiora,
, yeah? That's honestly half the reason I'm trying to power my way through (and take some time for the Colony 6 stuff), I would hate if, say, the final boss would be a stage boss or somethin'.

Yes. I think a few major plot points would be ruined with trophies if Shulk is in the game.

I could almost see
a Metal Face Assist Trophy being called Mumkhar
making it in to be honest.
