Yesterday me and a friend were playing event matches together trying to get the last couple of flags for clearing the right conditions. This was one of the very last few things I had to do to pretty much complete the game 100% since I play alone all the time but only occasionally have a partner. We were doing the event where you use Dr Mario and Peach to KO the black Kirby's (in under 60 seconds for the reward). Every time a minute had passed on the timer we'd just pause and quite since we already failed to meet the goal. (Why in the world is the restart option gone?!?!) Suddenly when we tried to quit the event for the umpteenth time, it messed up and the system completely froze while making an obnoxious buzz sound.
We had to unplug the system and restart it to get it to work again. But then when we tried to start the game, it would go to a black screen that says "error code: 160-0105" and say that their appears to be a problem with the USB storage device. (These days I mostly download games I know I'll never trade in and would like to take any place I take the system.) I'd then have to hold the power button to force the system off, again. Oddly, everything else on the USB device (lots of games from Hyrule Warriors to Wonderful 101) continued to work perfectly, only attempting to start Smash Bros would bring up that error screen. After an entire day of jumping through hoops (which included even spending a hundred bucks to buy a whole new Hard drive of a recommended brand) and praying I wouldn't end up losing my save data, it finally became clear that my worst fear was true: the save file was the very thing creating that error. If the system attempted to open the save or transfer it, it would get the error. The only way to fix it was to delete the Smash Bros save data. The instant I did that, the game started up again just fine and made new save data that is working fine.
But now I have to start everything completely over! I seriously do not want to go through the extreme frustration caused by clearing many of those crazy challenges and other things like endless farming for a second time. So first important question: Is it possible to copy somebody else's smash data and use it on mu Wii U? Any recommended places to get such a save if so?
Or is it possible to do something like back up my own Smash Bros data on a regular basis that way if I ever encounter this dreadful error again, I won't lose very much? Unfortunately, if I try to copy the data from the new hard drive to the old, it only copies the game, not the save. We may need some hacker to find a way around this copy prevention, I seriously don't ever want to lose so much work ever again...
Does anybody know anything about this error and what could be the cause of it?
