Recently watched the CN short series over the garden wall. I think it's all on YouTube now, it was pretty good. I'd recomend it if you have 2 hours two burn.

I was thinking of doing that to Axe (gauging how consistent he can do certain things), but he doesn't record himself for what I know and I'm gonna wait till I have a concrete list of things for him to do. I'll probably still @ him in the Marth section telling him to do SH Bair Double aerials (like SH Bair Fair) that don't exist in Melee which exist in PM (which he pry doesn't know exist).
More smash combo videos should do slight blur edits like this, it looks fantastic.
That's right and now they'res just the rest of the stuff to use from old FPS videos they haven't yet.
Like masking in, it'd be epic in a Smash combo video (and has been done in a sense for a couple recent ones I've seen but it can be done better; and sometimes Brawl combo videos did use a decent effect but it's being used on Brawl)

I tried driving by the Pizza and see'd if my subconscious would swerve immediately and make the decision for me. Good thing it didn't though, or I'd be scared of it being that powerful.

@ SpiderMad SpiderMad was the part of Sakurai that crafted and fine tuned Melee to allow it to be the competitive game it is today. However, he was forcefully extracted from Sakurai after Melee as part of Nintendo's efforts to appeal to a wider, casual audience. He now roams the Smash community, desperately seeking some means of reuniting with his former self in order to make Melee 2: Electric Boogaloo, the greatest game ever created.
That could be true (though I don't know your fluoride intake) but currently I think I'm here to try to make sure the Smash continuum doesn't falter; though I don't know where it's going.

But I know it involves ergonomics.

And PM would be so much better if:
We had people have more access to bigger/better CRTs and use Component cables (with CRTs that accept it)
- People as time goes on using Monitors and Converters (like SBad) to get roughly the same benefits, this seems to be the answer as CRTs die-

Light press air dodge was a custom control option (and possibly Tech and Powershield).

Buffer of 1 frame was allowed in tournament or something (this bridges the 1 frame early aerial gap to become 2 frames into the human consistent realm for use during play).

What's so great about DACUS that they also replicate that? Copying too much from previous Smash games is a bad sign. You have to have the true inspiration that Melee can put in you, and use that to create something new.

Kadano can study all the ways Melee functions, but he can't capture why kids love the taste. His videos come close but they're dry in certain aspects, he doesn't explain how this all converts together to mean so much for every topic (but that's pry because the videos would be much longer.. and I guess is up to me to try and make).

Similarly Mango knows why the kids love the taste and can define why, but he doesn't know the intricacies of how the game mechanics are developed to lead to everything to be amazing.

Magus is somewhere in this, but the most I can say is Project M owes him a lot.

I think that, if done literally frame perfectly, he can shorthop instant fair, wavebounce side-b, fair (for not the whole animation).

Does the wavebounce change the airtime over just doing it regularly? If yes, is it the b-reverse component of the wavebounce that does that, or is it only on a wavebounce?

It doesn't matter if you wavebounce, b-reverse, turn-b, or do it normally. Wavebounce is just a tricky way to do it, and the only way I see it being a viable technique. I am not 100% it works either, but I'm like 90% sure. The reason being that you have to accelerate to your fall speed and the side-b stalls out the falls speed slightly more than it lags, giving you just enough time to squeak out a fair. I'm going to test it now

@ Foo Foo I'm pretty sure doing anything after a SH fair is impossible, but you can do FH fair sideB fair/uair/early nair hit/bair.
RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP. My PM isn't working for some ******** reason. Haven't touched my wii in over two weeks and now when I try to start PM, it works normally but after getting to the PM title screen I get a black screen that says "Exception (DSI) occurred!

then a bunch of code T-T

Anyway, I am 100% sure you can side-b after shorthop fair, and I think you can fair just a little after side-b if you do it perfectly.

I got my PM working, and I guess I misremembered it. It wasn't fair to side-b, it was the other way around. whoops.

EDIT: Trying really hard, but I'm not sure I can do it either. I know I am mistiming it by at least a few frames, but I am not sure if it's enough. I can start the animation, but am just to slow to get the fair out. Gonna try in slow mode


EDIT 2: I finally remembered the conclusion of my wavebounce roy testing I did a long time ago. You barely can't shorthop side-b fair, but you can full hop and side-b will stop you from going up so if you cancel at the right spot it's *almost* a short hop. If shorthop were a half hop, it'd be a 6/10ths hop side-b to fair. This is what happens when I don't get to play for almost a month lol. I haven't had a chance to play and I won't have one until a tournament on the 10th. The GC controller felt so wierd in my hand. RIP me./

So that's a neat little option he has

You can definitely short hop sideb fair and still get hitboxes out, I just tested it. You can't get the full fair, but you can get a couple upper hitboxes out there.

There's something called a splash bomb, where you drop though a platform and bomb when her shoulder is going through, the bomb goes under and she lands normally on the platform
do shield drop splash bombs
you can swd out of it so to really be over the top needlessly technical do a shield pivot shield drop splash bomb swd off platform, wavebouce charge shot cancel, end up near a wall, wall jump charge shot cancel wavebouce up the wall without double jump, then Hylian low rider

If someone can do that I'll legit go crazy

And the classic full hop double missle (not too hard in pm)

Yeah, but that doesn't really count. It's much better to just cancel out of a full hop to get a similar heighted jump, but get the full fair.

Not useless, I don't think. If you do it properly, the hitboxes extend far enough that you can hit someone in front of you on the ground with the fair. It's mostly upper hitboxes, but you can get about halfway down his sword arc.

I guess it depends on whether you prioritize speed or hitbox size. Assuming the ability to play perfectly, the short hop side b is probably a slightly faster option, and still hits standing enemies. Either way, though, I don't think there's too many situations where aerial side b to fair is useful while still being so strict in timing as to require this tech.

I made this many many years ago. Like almost a decade ago. SO this was made on a computer I owned like 2-3 computers ago. As such, I no longer have the source file I need to rescale this to a more modern resolution. But this is probably one of my favorite works I posted on dA when I was younger which is why I saved it before I closed down my dA account. I love my current desktop, but I'd really much appreciate being able to use this again.



This one is my favorite work from dA but I feel that this will never be recreated because of how it looks. Still...It doesnt hurt to post it to see if you can do this one as well.

No just the two compilations. They focus on short hops, and generally neglect specials: and even then probably failed to capture every SH Aerial Autocancel or SH Aerial Aerial. (One I already know I missed was Charizards SH Fair Nair shown here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uj6qxfqx8GI#t=161)

So it generally didn't explore any SH Aerial Specials, SH Special Aerials, SH Special Special. All I still consider Early Aerials just for namesake. Then there's FH Aerial stuff, some become frame tight to Autocancel, some become frame tight to DJ (and thus WL or AGT, and for tether characters AD Tether shown in the video with link), and some become frame tight to perform another whole Aerial or Special and get the hitbox out.
Things get absurdly listable:
SH Aerial Autocancel (Marth's Nair)
SH Aerial DJ (and thus AD/WL/AGT) (Marth's SH Bair DJ in Melee)
SH Aerial Aerial (Marth's SH Double Fair)
SH Aerial Special (Marth SH Fair Side-b/anything special)
SH Special Aerial/WL (Marth's SH Side-b WL)
SH Special Special (Fox's Blaster is kind of this though it's a cycled animation)
then SH Aerial DJ _Something_ the list goes on forever.
FH same thing.
The combinations are endless, but the point is to find the things not frequently used due to frame tightness; meaning the first aerial has to be done very "early" after jumpsquat (sometimes for the first airborne frame) to enable the Autocancel or next Aerial's hitbox (or DJ) to come out (given you do that 2nd Aerial ASAP).

and there's a clusterfk of things in PM that make or otherwise unlock early/double aerials even for the Melee vets.
-Airdodge through IASA was not allowed in Melee but is in PM (Because of Brawl).
-Melee's aerials/specials induce gravity on their beginning frame meaning if you do it the first airborne frame gravity becomes induced when it normally occurs on your 2nd airborne frame: lowering your overall SH/FH jump height. PM doesn't have this induced gravity, it always occurs on frame 2: meaning first frame aerials won't lower your jump height. [I'll make a short video on this eventually]
-PM has some extra air time for the first frame maybe or something because of the physics delay or something.
-And also one other thing I haven't talked about yet

Things possible in PM but not Melee for the vets:
Marth's SH Bair Fair/Uair/Dair
Fox's SH Bair Autocancel
Falco's SH UAir Autocancel
Jigglypuff's SH Bair Nair
[All of these are shown in the two compilations]

I'll probably be making it up from scratch so that the softening won't be a problem. Are the ink drip lines up above looking good enough?

I'm probably going to do all of this in photoshop, honestly. Vectors in Illustrator are a bit too much work. Ink lines I'll be doing using my tablet, because pressure sensitivity and drawing by hand makes things smoother, easier, and faster. For the hard lines I'll probably just have those as vector shapes and then have duplicates for the vertical bars that I'll rasterize and blur, then play with the opacity to get the faint glow from the original.
