A62: Bladewise vs Lucky was inevitable and in a close set, Bladewise won with Lucky winning 2nd.

B60: Lord beat Vist, who then got 2nd.
B61: PP beat Kels in a somewhat close set, and then Kels won LFs against Eclipsing Binary.

F59: JTB defeated Aisight, Simna, and Michael Li, but then lost to Silent Wolf. He made it to QFs by winning the second set with Michael Li in LFs.
THE UPSETS
A57: Mango ran through as expected, but Crush beat Noobking and AC beat CrimsonBlur, and in Losers' Noobking took out CrimsonBlur, crush finished off Noobking, and then took out AC, making it to QFs!
A63: IB won ezpz 2-0ing everyone, but the other expected players were taken out! Spife lost to Pikazoo and "Mark Corre", who himself then lost to Pikazoo, while King Funk lost to LK007 and then Davidcue. Davidcue finished off Pikazoo, and then LK007 won LFs! Who are these people???

C58: Armada destroyed Blunted Object and Bimbo, but in Losers' Bimbo beat Blunted Object and advances into QFs!
C63: In Scar vs Tomber, it was 1-1, Scar was up 4-1 stocks and Tomber made the comeback! And then, he also defeated DEHF to win his pool! But further still, Scar was taken out by "Cameron Milani" and then got destroyed by DEHF in LFs! Crazy results!
D57: OkamiBW defeated Darkrain 2-1, and then took out TheLake in WFs! Darkrain then destroyed TheLake and made it to QFs.

E59: Bob$ won his pool, buy Sybawave got through S0ft and Sung666 to take 2nd!
E62: Although a fellow Yoshi couldn't make it, Amsa not only survived, but he won his pool! Navn and Smashmac, the other two favorites for the pool also were eliminated and it was Flow that won in LFs!
E64: HectoHertz, a Sheik main defeated V3ctorman in round 1, and lost to Ken in WFs, who had beaten Raistlin on his side. In Losers', Raistlin eliminated V3ctorman, but couldn't beat Hecto, who got 2nd place!
F62: Nite defeated Tafokints, but Tafo survived in Losers'!
THE DESTRUCTION

A64: In a very rough pool, L took out everybody; Mogwai, HugQ, and Choknater in WFs! Mogwai was then taken out by Borre from Mexico, followed by elimination by HugQ, and then lost to Choknater in LFs! Choknater survived the Losers' bracket destruction!
B63: JpegImage, MattDotZeb, Merck, DJ Mirror, and Milkman made a really tough bracket for a lot of moderately good players. Matt was the one that won by beating Jpeg and Merck, and Milkman lost to Merck round one, yet ran through Losers' taking out Jpeg and finished off Merck in the rematch! DJ Mirror lost to Jpeg.
C60: Meta beat Nicknyte and then being a Fox slayer took out Tang! Laijin though was able to beat him and got to face Bizzaro on the opposite side of the chaos in WFs. Bizzaro won, and Meta proceeded to defeat Tang again and won his rematch against Laijin to represent Canada in QFs!
C64: Hungrybox ran a train, Rusty was defeated by Pnoy and then Falcomist, Baka beat Mackadotious and Falcomist and lost to HBox in WFs! Falcomist then took out Pnoy and lost the rematch to Baka in LFs, who took 2nd!

INTRO
This is the thread for all the folks watching EVO from home and by the streams for a place to chat about everything that's happening, post updates, make predictions, and everything else! I'll be updating this thread as the weekend goes so that everything we know about what's going on is in one central place! Please keep everything posted here about Melee, as I'm sure there are many other places to discuss all the other games! And if you happen to be unfamiliar with the community, who certain players are, what advanced techniques are, etc, feel free to ask in this thread!
We started off by dominating a Facebook poll, raising shy of $100k for Breast Cancer, and along the wait, we've had the ruleset updated to almost perfectly match the community's, were given the opportunity to help organize the bracket, and we even convinced Nintendo to allow us to stream reaching publicity all over the internet in various gaming communities including being #1 on Reddit!
Now that we're all set to go, we have in just a couple days the largest Melee tournament in history! In fact, we have DOUBLE the entrants of Pound 4's previous record of 347 at a whopping 696! In fact, when only counting players that only entered Melee and no other games, we still have 409! On top, we have our final top 8 on Sunday with the other big games!
SCHEDULE
The schedule for EVO is that Melee will be played on all 3 days! On Friday, July 12th, Melee Pools will run from 8am to 8pm to completion. On Saturday, July 13th, Melee Quarter Final Pools are from 10am to noon, and then Semi Final Pools are from noon to 2pm to completion. The final top 8 players play on Sunday starting at noon until 2pm. All times are PST (UTC -8), so make sure you've adjusted for that!
The official streaming schedule is here:
As you can see, most of Melee will be at http://www.twitch.tv/srkevo3, with finals on http://www.twitch.tv/srkevo1. Do be aware though that VideoGameBootCamp is also planning on streaming at http://www.twitch.tv/vgbootcamp, but the time for that is not currently known (will be updated later). Additionally, they will be streaming a Socal smashfest on Wednesday at 6:30pm, and the next Melee it on Me episode on Thursday at 10pm, both PST!
Also, Clash Tournaments will be streaming with the Clash Tournaments Clash Suite event on Friday and Saturday nights starting from 10-11pm and lasting well into the night. It's meant to be a way to see various top players competing that may not meet in the bracket, and as bonus footage! Currently, it is including the following players: Axe, Dr. PeePee, Fuzzyness, Hax, Hungrybox, Ice, Ken, Mango, Mew2King, PewPewU, Scar, SFAT, Shroomed, Taj, V3ctorman, Wobbles, Zhu. Possibly more too! Commentary will also be including D1, HomeMadeWaffles, Prog, and Wobbles! There may also be an extra showing on Thursday night before EVO begins! On top, they're taking match requests currently in this thread! See everything on their stream at http://www.twitch.tv/CLASHTournaments!
Currently, matches for the Clash Suite include a multi-character crew battle between Mew2King and Mango (6 characters, possibly 10!), a rematch between Scar and Ken, and more! Matches will be played out mostly randomly as different players come and go, but everything will be updated on their Twitter at: https://twitter.com/CLASHTournament
There are also likely going to be guest appearances by speedrunners Cosmo, Trihex, and Siglemic!
And just as an extra useful link if you're watch Melee alongside other games simultaneously, watch EVO at http://www.multitwitch.tv/srkevo1/srkevo2/srkevo3 which will show all 3 main streams! And if you want to watch Melee and only Melee use this instead: http://www.multitwitch.tv/srkevo3/vgbootcamp/CLASHTournaments/ Don't forget though that finals is on http://www.twitch.tv/srkevo1although no other Melee matches will be on there!

POOLS
So of course, the most interesting thing is the matches themselves! For the EVO streams, chatting will be disabled except for those that donate $12, which goes to EVO's scholarship fund, but we can post all we want here!
The way EVO is setup for their tournament is that each pool is a double-elimination brackets of at most 16 players. The last player in Winners' bracket and the last player in Losers' bracket move on the the Quarter Final Pools, which are similar except that those that were in Winners' continue in Winners', and those in Losers' continue in Losers'. In total, we go from 696 players to 92 remaining in the QFs Pools. From there, the same thing continues narrowing the players down to 16 in the Semi Final Pools, and then going to 8 for the Finals. Finals will be on Sunday with the top 4 players remaining in Winners' still and the top 4 players remaining in Losers'!
Depending on the number of Byes a player receives throughout the brackets, a player could win in as few as 9 to 11 sets if they were to not lose a set once, yet if a player were to go to Losers' bracket immediately, they would face a gauntlet of at least 17 and at most 20 sets! Since all of the top players from around the world are in attendance, the entire tournament, both Winners' and Losers' is going to be a slaughterfest!
One oddity about EVO's Pools however is that Byes are not all distributed equally. Some starting Pools have none, while other Pools have as many as 3. On top in the Losers' bracket of QFs Pools, some players will be receiving 2 Byes in a row, while others will receive none!!! This means that some players in the top 92 will be receiving 97th place, being outplaced by Byes, and some players that begin in Losers' will automatically be guaranteed 49th! It is what it is, but it is important to note for those making predictions and of course to the players that have to go through that.
Here is the full list of the seeded players:
#1 Mango
#2 Hungrybox
#3 Mew2King
#4 Dr. PeePee
#5 Hax
#6 Dashizwiz
#7 Zoso
#8 Angelbless

And here is a full list of the Pools with links, good and/or notable players in each, and what Byes those in the Pool will receive when entering QFs. Also note not to judge skill between players of different Pools listed here; I made the list based on the best players of each Pool, and since they aren't 100% perfectly balanced, there may be some better players not listed. That said, if you really think there are some players that are going to be doing some damage this tournament, make a post in this thread and I'll edit it in!

And here's a listing of good and/or notable players not attending EVO:
Abate, Amsah, Azen, Bam, Cactuar, Chillin, Chudat, Colbol, Darc, Dark, Diakonos, DJ Nintendo, DoH, Eggm, Isai, Javi, Kage, Kirbykaze, KoreanDJ, Linguini, Lord HDL, MacD, Overtriforce, PC Chris, Plup, QERB, Raynex, Sion, Strawhat Dahean, Thorn, Tope, Trail, Unknown522, Vanz, Vwins, Weon-X
Likewise with Pools, feel free to ask about other players or post who else you think should be listed here!
MISCELLANEOUS NOTES
-Blunted Object, TheLake, and Wobbles are under their names Eric Brown, Aaron Beilstein, and Robert Wright, respectively. Lucien, Yakal, Tang, and Cosmo are as well, but theirs' are more obvious.
-"Cort" as listed in EVO Pools is actually HugQ, a Samus player.
-Wobbling is completely legal at this tournament (Ice Climber infinite)
-All sets are best 2 of 3 except for Winners' Finals, Losers' Finals, and Grand Finals
-Armada and Dr. PeePee are set to play in Winners' Eighths due to Armada not having seeding points. With Mango also on the same side, this means that at least one of these three players is placing 4th or worse. The matches between these players in Winners' will also be best 2 of 3 sets
-Despite other games not allowing a winner of a match to change character, Melee is an exception as it is in our standard ruleset. Thanks to EVO's staff for this!
-Cosmo Wright is indeed the famous Zelda speedrunner. For those that didn't know, he used to (and may still be) the best Zelda main in the world!
Also, I imagine many people will be updating us via Twitter. If anyone knows who we should be following, please post in this thread about it! So far we've got https://twitter.com/gyt and https://twitter.com/CLASHTournament but I'm certain there will be many more! I'll make this much more in view once EVO starts.
Special thanks to Juggleguy, Tarv, and Revven for various information elsewhere that I used in this thread, and of course to Prog, all of the EVO staff, FGC, and all of the Smash community!
Please direct anyone with questions, updates, chatter, etc to this thread!
Also, if you're actually attending the tournament and have important questions about housing, traveling, etc, this is the wrong thread for you! Please make sure to find the help you need elsewhere!
