Donnel Tinhead
He Ain't Doin' for Glory,
He's Doin' for his Ma!

Who is Donnel?
Donnel (or Denis in the Japanese version) is one of the many recruit-able characters in Fire Emblem: Awakening. He's a lovably country bumpkin with a pot on his head and lives with his ma in a small village to the south.
Recruiting Donnel can be quite the chore in the game (it's particularly gruesome in Lunatic or higher), requiring you to not only keep him alive during the whole mission but also leveling him up at least one level. To add to the difficulty is Donnel's default, only-limited-to-him class, Villager, is literally the weakest class in the game.
However, Donnel is the game's Magikarp. Villager gives him the skill Aptitude, which grants him 20% stat growth to ALL his stats when he levels. Additionally, he has access to useful skills like Sol (which heals him for have the damage he inflicts on an enemy), Armsthrift (which prevents his weapons from loosing durability), and the other Villager-exclusive skill, Underdog, which increases his Hit and Evasion rate by 15 when fighting an enemy that is a higher level then him.
Additionally, Donnel makes a great father for the kids from the future, being able to pass down to them his Aptitude skill, great stats, and the Pegasus Knight class to his daughters, giving them access to one of the best skills in the game, Galeforce.

Okay, but why him?!
Well for one thing, his Villager class's special skills, Aptitude and Underdog, could make for some interesting gameplay mechanics, plus the only weapon Villagers can use are spears, which we don't have a spear-using character yet. Unlike the other Fire Emblem characters in Smash, he hasn't had any formal combat training, just a surprising amount of aptitude and tenacity, which could help translate to an interesting and maybe unpredictable moveset.

Gameplay Concept
Height: Around Pit and Little Mac
Weight: Around Ness/Greninja and Toon Link/Diddy Kong
Crawl: Yes
Wall Jump: No
Wall Cling: No

Special Mechanics
Underdog
Underdog activates when Donnel has a higher damage percentage then his opponent(s), increasing his movement, attack, and jump speed.

Spears
Similar to Robin, Donnel can use a variety of spears, each with its own effect and number of uses before he had to ditch them. Spears give Donnel's attacks a decent reach, doing more damage on the spearhead. Unlike Robin, Donnel's spears cannot be used as projectiles when their usage is up and thrown away. Spears that have been ditched will reappear after 9 seconds.

Specials
Neutral
Spear Switch: Donnel will switch which Spear he is using. Each spear has its own number of usage before Donnel throws it away. The order Donnel switches spears is Bronze Lance > Brave Lance> Shock Stick > Glass Spear > Bronze Lance. Donnel's Up Taunt will reset Donnel to his Bronze Lance. Donnel will skip any spear that has been ditched.

Bronze Lance: The default Spear and has unlimited usage. Also the weakest in attack strength.
Brave Lance: Donnel's second weakest spear but it increase the speed of Donnel's attacks and smashes. Can preform 20 successful hits before ditched.
Shock Stick: A spear with electric properties shocking enemies during smash attacks and increases their damage but also causes a delay after doing them. Can preform 8 successful hits before ditched.
Glass Spear: The strongest of Donnel's four spears, increasing the damage done by his attacks. Can preform 6 successful hits before being ditched

Side
Javelin: Donnel will throw a Javelin spear forward, in an upward arc, damaging any enemy that touches until it hits the ground. Enemies that hit the spearhead will receive more damage. While in the air, Donnel will move forward a little. Donnel can only throw one Javelin at a time, with any additional uses just propelling him forward a little with no spear. Can be used 6 times before being ditched.

Upward
Log Spear: Donnel will thrust a Log (it is a spear in the game) upward, traveling skyward, then climb it upward. Donnel damages enemy in the way when he thrusts the Log upward. Additionally, the Log will fall downwards once Donnel climbed it, meteor smashing any enemy below it. Donnel is vulnerable after using this move until he hits the ground. Can be used 18 times before being ditched.

Down
Armsthrift: Donnel thrusts his spear into the air and activates Armsthrift, making all of his spears' number of usage freeze for 5 seconds. The Armsthrift effect will not activate again Additionally, when Donnel thrusts his spear into the air, it will damage any foe it stabs.

Final Smash
Level Up!: Donnel will level up, causing his Aptitude ability to kick in, giving him an incredible boost to his stats, invulerablility, access to the spear Gradivus, and activates his Sol ability, healing a small amount of his damage every time he damages an enemy/boss/stage hazard.

Attacks
Ground
Neutral
: Donnel will preform up to three forward thrusts with his spear, then
Forward Tilt: Donnel will swipe forward with the butt of his spear.
Forward Smash: Donnel will spin his sprear above his head five times.
Upward Tilt: Donnel will squat downward then headbuttt upward with his "helmet". Was Super Armor when he is in a full squat position. This does NOT factor in the properties of Donnel's spears.
Upward Smash: Donnel will spin his spear in the air three times then thrust forward. The spinning damages any foe near Donnel.
Downward Tilt: Donnel will set a snare trap in front of him that will go off when an opponent steps on it. This does NOT factor in the properties of Donnel's spear.
Downward Smash: Donnel will swipe in front of and then behind himself with his spear.
Dash: Donnel will jump and thrust his spear forward.

Aerial
Neutral
: Donnel will flail in the air. His arms and legs damage any enemy they hit. This does NOT factor in the properties of his spears.
Forward: Donnel will thrust his spear forward. This will cause him to travel downward slightly.
Backward: Donnel will spin his spear behind him.
Upward: Donnel will slash upward with his spear.
Downward: Donnel will point his spear downward and cling to it as it smashes downward.

If you want to leave your support, moveset ideas, or arguments as to why he should be in Smash, leave them bellow. ;D

While there's a lot of Fire Emblem characters in smash already, especially with Roy rumored, I still support Donnel, as he would be a great addition to the roster regardless of anything else.

I don't think he deserves to get in, he is only a side character after all. Maybe we'll get a pan hat for the Miis instead.
