After the relative success of the first event, we have decided to go ahead and make this a series of tournaments. This one in particular will be heavily focused on the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. 4. We are also debuting what I have dubbed as "Fun" tournaments that will take place during the last hour of the regular singles tournament. I hope that everyone that comes has a great time!

Location:
University of Kentucky
Student Center
Room 357

Address:
404 S Limestone
Lexington, KY
40508

Events:
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Singles
($10)
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Doubles ($20 per team)
Super Smash Bros. for 3DS Fun Bracket (If you play three sets or fewer in singles bracket, free. Otherwise, $1. If you were payed out in singles, you may not enter this event).

Schedule:

Registration for Fun Bracket (7 P.M. to 8:15 P.M.)
Fun Bracket (8:30 P.M. to 10 P.M.)

3DS
In order to speed up the process of using custom characters, etc., we ask that you please bring your 3DS if you have one. This is not a requirement, but it would certainly be helpful. It's also beneficial to you since it allows you time to practice without using a Wii U set-up.

Pre-registration:
Since we are likely to already be fairly short on time, you may pre-register. All this entails is that I put your name and/or your team's name into Tournament Maker ahead of time. This is once again simply to save time and is not at all required. If you wish to pre-register, all you need to do is PM me on Smashboards or Facebook or post on this Facebook or Smashboards thread. Just state what you are entering, and if you are entering doubles, your partner and team name. Do know that I intend to be extremely strict with our schedule, however. You are allowed to be, at most, five minutes late to registration.

Housing:
Although the tournament will finish fairly early, for those interested in housing, we have a couple of players in Lexington that might be willing to house you.

Food:
There are plenty of restaurants around campus, such as Chipotle, Raising Canes, Jimmy Johns, and Fazolis.

Rules:
- Doubles will be a straight double elimination bracket. Singles will involve pools leading into a double elimination bracket.
- Team Attack ON
- Custom Specials are legal.
- Custom Attributes are banned.
- As of right now, all Mii characters are allowed EXCEPT for Miis considered profane (depictions of genitalia, etc.,). Just be mature about it, and you should be fine.

-Players who fail to report to their match within 10 minutes of it being announced will lose their first game of the match. After 15 minutes without reporting to their match, players will be disqualified from the tournament.
- Coaching is allowed only between games, not during.
- Bracket matches take priority over friendlies and money matches. The TO reserves the right to prematurely end any match.
- Bring your own controller.
- Pause can be requested off and that request cannot be denied. If one pauses mid-match, the person who initiated the pause loses their current stock. If the pause causes the opponent to lose their stock (such as interfering with recovery), the person who initiated the pause loses two stocks. If there is any doubt in the ruling of a pausing incident, stop what you are doing and CALL ONE OF THE TOs TO YOUR MATCH.
- The tournament organizer has the right to save/record any tournament match if possible and has the right to upload said match.

Set rules:
All sets besides finals are best of three; finals (Winners, Losers, Grand) are best of five.
For the first game, both players will pick a character. They must both state whether they are using custom specials or not, and if so, what custom specials. If one or both players are playing a Mii Fighter, they must describe the Mii (height and weight). f needed, one of the players can call for a double blind pick if they wish. Players strike stages in a 2-3-1 fashion, with player A striking two stages, player B striking three stages, and then player A striking one last stage. Twenty-Three is Number One. The player that strikes first can be decided through Rock-Paper-Scissors or G&W Judgement
The second game, the player that won may ban one stage (neutral or counterpick). The player that lost then counterpicks a neutral or counterpick stage. The player that won may then change or stay their character. If they change their character's custom specials, they must tell the opponent what custom specials they are using. The player that lost may then change or stay their character and custom specials. If they change their custom specials, they must tell the opponent what custom specials that they are using. If one of them chooses to use a Mii Fighter they did not during game 1 (or if in game 3, game 2), he or she (or both) must describe said Mii Fighter in the same manner described for game 1. If the player that lost the first game wins the second game, this same process is repeated for the third game.
Stock count is set to three.
Timer is set to eight minutes.
Items are set to off and none.
Damage ratio is set to 1.0

Stagelist:

Starters:Final Destination
Battlefield
Town & City
Smashville
Lylat Cruise
Delfino Plaza
Duck Hunt

Counterpicks:Halberd
Skyloft
Wuhu Island
Pokemon Stadium 2
Castle Siege
Kongo Jungle 64
Mario Circuit (Smash 4)
Omega Stages
Big Battlefield (Doubles only)

3DS Fun Bracket: The 3DS Fun Bracket is for players that didn't quite get enough bang for their buck in singles. If you played only three or fewer sets, you can enter this bracket for free! If you played four or more sets in bracket, however, you will have to pay $1 to enter. To keep things interesting and the top 4 or 5 from making their wallets even fatter, those that make money in singles will not be allowed to enter this event. Due to how late this event will be starting, the bracket will be single elimination only, but depending on number of entrants, we would be willing to make it double elimination. Now, as the name implies, all matches must be played on the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. In order to keep this post mainly focused on the Wii U, the rules for the 3DS version will be displayed in a quote

- If a player's 3DS loses power, he or she automatically forfeits that game (but not the set).
- If wireless interference occurs during a match, the game will be restarted.
- If a player deliberately turns off their 3DS during a match or causes interference during a match, he or she will forfeit the set.
- Custom Specials are legal.
- Custom Attributes are banned.
- As of right now, all Mii characters are allowed EXCEPT for Miis considered profane (depictions of genitalia, etc.,). Just be mature about it, and you should be fine.

- Players are to be facing each other during a match within an arm's reach of each other during a set (we may be more lenient on this as information regarding the wireless stability of the game becomes available).
- Bring your own 3DS.

If one or both players are playing a Mii Fighter, they must describe the Mii (height and weight). If needed, one of the players can call for a double blind pick if they wish. One player will then strike one of the five neutrals. The other will then strike two of them. Then the first player will pick between the two remaining neutrals.
The second game, the player that won may ban one stage (neutral or counterpick). The player that lost then counterpicks a neutral or counterpick stage. The player that won may then change or stay their character. If they change their character's custom specials, they must tell the opponent what custom specials they are using. The Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS Mentoring Project
This tournament will be the debut of Kentucky/Ohio/Indiana's Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS Mentoring Project. The idea is that local Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana veterans can sign up to mentor the influx of newcomers that want to get involved in the Smash 4 competitive scene. Details are available in our Facebook group and in this thread: http://smashboards.com/threads/kentucky-smash-4-mentoring-project-surrounding-areas-included.374675/. There will be a table with a paper for each potential mentor that new players can sign up to be mentored by.

Now, it would be great if we could get at least eight set-ups at this, but more are always welcome. If you plan to bring a Wii U set-up, please describe if you can bring a TV as well or not and vice versa.

If anyone is willing to help me run this, that would be spectacular. This is my second tournament, so I still might need a little help, especially to fit everything inside what is probably a relatively small time frame. If anyone has any suggestions, questions, or comments, I would be happy to listen, consider, and answer them. I hope that we can keep our Smash 4 scene burning on!

Super late reply (sorry) but we got 23 at the 3DS tournament last event, so I'd expect around that many. However, as this will take place the week before finals, I would expect a few less people to show up.

The stage list has been updated!

Would've tried to come down again, but I'm doing a Mario Kart tournament tomorrow. #GamerLife
