If your controller still has working triggers I suggest buying the new smash edition and replacing the back with your old back (extremely easy to do with a tri-wing screwdriver). In my experience the new smash ones have good buttons and the sticks back dash and shield drop well (although they start stiff), but the springs in the triggers are too long which makes fully pressing them down slightly inconsistent.

And by working triggers I mean they press down easily.

Also, the official Nintendo controller isn't a GameStop controller. GameStop controllers look like this:


Never get third-party controllers, kids. They won't lead you anywhere good. But yeah, I second Dolla Pills' advice.

Buy new and break it in. the buttons especially joysticks are pretty stiff at first so using them a bit can help loosen them up.
