Character Ballot Suggestion: Night Watchman

The Night Watchman from Castlevania Lords of Shadow: Mirror of Fate.

My reasons:
1. I think having a character like this in Super Smash Bros. would not only be unexpected, but a very welcome change of pace for the character roster. Most of the characters in this game are popular icons, kid-friendly, and very enjoyable to be around. Where-as the Night Watchman would be quite a dark contrast character to have in the game, giving a darker feel to players who would like to play that way.

2. His move-set would be completely unique. Compared to other characters, his weapon, and move-set would feel very alien-like in the game. His weapon of choice being a pole-arm-lantern-flail. It would be quite an interesting weapon to use and throw around, as well as to see how he would recover, and use his differentiating moves, as well as the skavens(dogs) he commands for other attacks, or even stuns/recoveries.

Move-Set

Neutral A: The Night Watchman would throw a quick jab, doing 3% damage per strike. This has minor knock-back, so it cannot be chain-linked into itself at higher percentages.

Forward Tilt: The Night Watchman stabs the back end of his pole-arm towards the enemy, doing 8% damage. A sweet spot at the end of the pole would push the target back further, but no further damage would be accumulated within the sweet-spot.

Up Tilt: The Night Watchman leans back, swinging the lantern up towards the air in a lunar arc. This attack deals 7% damage.

Down tilt: The Night Watchman grips the center of his weapon, forcing his foot forward in a hard kick. This attack deals 3% damage.

Forward Smash: The Night Watchman spins his lantern upon his pole-arm, and then brings it down in a hard crashing overhead motion. This attack deals 15% damage. This attack has a sweet spot in the middle of the lantern that causes the opponent to take fire damage, increasing the damage to 20%. No further knock-back is added.

Up Smash: The Night Watchman backs up, before gripping his pole-arm, swinging it up wildly into the air in a large lunar arc, dealing 18% damage. There is a sweet spot in the middle of his lantern that causes the opponent to take fire damage, increasing the damage to 22%. no further knock-back is added.

Down Smash: The Night Watchman leans back gripping his pole-arm, before lifting himself off the ground and slamming both of his feet down hard upon the ground. This attack deals 12% damage and causes heavy knock-back. This attack causes minor push to enemies around him and causes the most knock-back to enemies hit by the attack.

Neutral Air: The Night Watchman flips his pole-arm around in a circle in his hands, forming a large circle around himself slowly. This attack deals 10% damage. There is a sweet spot in the middle of his lantern that causes the opponent to take fire damage, increasing the damage to 15%. No further knock-back is added.

Forward Air: The Night Watchman brings his pole-arm down in a forward overhead lunar motion. This attack deals 17% damage. There is a sweet spot in the middle of his lantern that causes the opponent to take fire damage, increasing the damage to 22%. No further knock-back is added.

Up Air: The Night Watchman forces the spear end of his pole-arm up into the air, thrusting it upwards. This attack deals 8% damage.

Down Air: The Night Watchman forces both of his feet down in a heel kick motion. This attack deals 9% damage. This attack causes a meteor effect if hit over the top-center of the enemy. Once he reaches the ground, he will slam his pole-arm into the ground causing an additional 7% damage and causing minor push to enemies around him.

Neutral B: The Night Watchman blows his whistle, summoning his 2 Skaven dogs to his side, making one of them charge forward at the enemy with a second push of the B button. Both Dogs deal 5% damage. If the B button is held down when both dogs are already summoned, they both will charge at once, dealing 10% damage. Once both dogs are expended, the Night Watchman cannot use this ability for another 10 seconds.

Forward B: The Night Watchman spins forward in a wild motion, spinning his pole-arm around in a circle around him as he slowly charges forward. He strikes the enemy twice before he brings his lantern overhead, smashing it down upon them. The first two strikes deal 7% damage, the final strike of his combo deals 12% damage. All three hits have a sweet spot in the center of the lantern that cause an additional 3% fire damage.

Up B: The Night Watchman swings his pole-arm in a launching motion, the force from his weapon sending him up high into the air. This attack deals 10% damage. There is a sweet spot in the middle of the lantern that causes enemies to take fire damage, increasing the damage to 13%.

Down B: The Night Watchman blows his whistle, summoning one flying skaven to his side. Pressing the B button a second time will send the skaven down into a downward motion in front of the Night Watchman. This attack deals 4% damage. Once the skaven is expended the Nigthwatchman cannot use this move again for 6 seconds.

Forward Grab: The Night Watchman leans back and slams his beak mask against the opponent, forcing them back. This attack deals 9% damage.

Back Grab: The Night Watchman throws the enemy up in the air for a brief moment, then spins his lantern before slamming it against the enemy. This attack deals 17% damage.

Up Grab: The Night Watchman throws the enemy up in the air and stabs up into the air with the spear end of his pole-arm, launching them up into the air. This attack deals 12% damage.

Down Grab: The Night Watchman pins the enemy down between the fork end of his spear, and then stomps down upon the enemy's chest. This attack deals 11% damage.

Final Smash: The Night Watchman removes any shred of humanity that he has left, and transforms into his Reaver Form.(Giant Skaven essentially.) Going into a wild berserk state, able to charge forward at enemies and deal 30% damage per charge. He can still fall off the stage and lose a stock or point in this form, and he can only perform 4 charges. These charges however, have great knock back ability and cannot be stopped.

Up Taunt: The Night Watchman blows his whistle, making it echo around him.

Side Taunt: The Night Watchman gingerly rubs his lantern, soothing the fire within it.

Down Taunt: The Night Watchman sits down, resting his pole-arm against his shoulder, resting his head against his arms, lost in thought.

Pros and Cons:

Pros: Is a relatively heavy character, with good harassing moves, and very powerful smash attacks.

Variety in his B moves, making him hard to predict, and difficult to close in on without patience.

Long reach with his pole-arm, combined with terrifying power, making him extremely easy to KO with.

Cons: Is a very slow fighter, and speedy characters can take advantage of his slow wind-ups, lack of spamming utility, and relatively weak close-range game.

Heavy weight makes him fall quite quickly when knocked off stage, combined with a relatively predictable recovery, makes getting back on stage quite difficult if fighting against a competent edge-guarder.

My apologies, I wasn't aware of the rules at first. I was directed here by a friend to post a subject.

Ï was under the idea it was a nomination for one of the guards in FNAF. LOL.

Welcome to the boards. We will get lots of new people and returning now with the ballot.

Hahah I can see how you'd think that. XD

Thank you very much, I'm hoping so, it'd be interesting to see all the ideas people come up with.
