So I switched controllers recently (2 weeks ago), the price of gamecube adapter being insane and my old controller rusting (yes rusting!) meant it was time to switch.
I started with Wii mote (not as bad as it sounds really) and I'm now using a Wii U pro, which I have nothing but compliments for, a great, modern controller. Just fantastic battery life, feel and oozes quality. I love this thing to death and simply won't go back.
Except for one thing. My pivot grab. I have never been a pro at this move even with the GC, it would fail on me with a predictable frequency in the heat of battle but it was a low failure rate (like 5-10%). Now with some combination of wi-fi, new controller, new game, etc... It's failing a lot (like 50% or more, if it's tight match, I don't even try).
I want to get that nice "sliding" grab animation and it's rough. I more often than not get the pivot tilt kick. How do you guys input your pivot grab?
I must have been doing this at the very edge of timing/input before and I've been experimenting with inputs that are less than horizontal, like angled up -> angled down.
Any advice aside from "get better" ?
