WARRIOR OF LIGHT
Series: Final Fantasy
First Appearance: Final Fantasy - 1987 (Nintendo Entertainment System)
Side: Good
Status: Third-Party
Warrior of Light hails from Final Fantasy for the NES. His name is derived from the term of the Heroes of Light, the heroes of the series, and was used in the fighting game Dissidia Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy was a popular game for the NES.
Popular Arguments:
1. He has no relevancy to Nintendo! Square Enix prefers Playstation.
Oh really? Final Fantasies 1-6 were Nintendo Exclusives and aside from Final Fantasy 7 and 12, they were the series' best selling titles. Sure, Playstation gets some of the bigger name games for series such as Kingdom Hearts and Hitman, but Square Enix isn't taking sides. Not to mention both Final Fantasy and another popular Square series, Dragon Quest, getting lots of cameos in recent Mario spinoff games.
2. Why this guy? He's just another sword user! We have plenty of Links and Marths, thank you very much!
Just a sword user? Ha. Haha. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Seriously, do you even Final Fantasy bro? Warriors, while mainly relying on brute strength and sword attacks, also have lots of things to work with. Spells, Potions, Items, Summon Magic - just sword attacks my ass.
3. Nintendo and Square aren't on good terms right now.
See Argument 1.
4. Why this guy for a Final Fantasy rep? Terra, Black Mage, and even Moogle are all better choices. Heck, even Slime makes a better Square choice in general!
Purely opinion. But, in his moveset, I plan to take advantage of both a unique mechanic, the Brave Point (BP) system as well as an Magic Point (MP) system, as well as incorporate summoning/using powers from across the whole series as well.
5. Go back to the Sora thread and die. You support/ed characters like Dr. Kawashima, Sora, and Nintendog and expect us to support this guy?
I'll take that as a compliment

Playstyle [Keybladeguy]
So how would WoL play? Well, let's start basics. He'd be heavy, due to his armor, and he'd be between Ganondorf and Link in terms of speed (again, due to armor). He would manuever very poorly in the air, despite a good recovery move, and attacks would have lots of startup/end lag. However, his attacks both hit hard and cause lots of knockback, making him strong in terms of raw power.
Unique Gimmick: Brave Point/Magic Point system (BP/MP)
Brave Points: Bravery is an essential part of being a hero and a warrior, and WoL is no different. He has a unique system of BP (Brave Points) that make his attacks stronger/weaker/faster/slower depending on his current BP, which are located in a small meter underneath his damage meter. As the meter fills up with green, he gains brave points, and at full BP, his attacks are much stronger and faster. At the beginning of the match, his BP are at 0, bt can raise to a Max 20. if he is hit by a combo, he will lose BPs at the rate of 1/2 point per second as long as the combo continues. If launched, loses 2 BP.
Magic Points: As with all magic in the Final Fantasy series, his magic also has limited capabilities. Casting spells will cause his MP (Magic Points) to decrease with each spell a different amount. At the start of the match, his MP is a full 50 points. After being drained even slightly, it will refuel so long as he doesn't cast spells. If WoL does not have enough MP, he will still perform the move, albight with almost no power at all and a very small hitting area. For example, rather than a wide column of light hitting for his Up Smash, a very thin one will happen. The meter showing magic is blue when magic is left, pink when empty.
Moveset [Keybladeguy]
Jab: WoL slashes in front of himself vertically downward, then horizontally in both right and left. Very slow for a Jab combo. If all 3 attacks hit, he will gain 1 BP.
Side Tilt: WoL stabs his sword forward. If hit at the very tip, he will gain 1 BP.
Up Tilt: WoL slices above himself. If hit at any point, he will gain 1/2 of 1 BP.
Down Tilt: WoL slashes his sword close to the ground. If hit at any point, he gains 1/2 of 1 BP.
Dash Attack: WoL raises his shielf as he dashes through the foe. No BP recieved.
Side Smash: Cactuar - WoL stabs his blade in the ground directly in front of him, and a cactuar pops out, doing damage to the foe. If hit, gains 2 BP.
Up Smash: Light Column - WoL points his sword to the sky and summons a column of light around himself. Costs 3 MP. If hit, gains 2 BP.
Down Smash: Thundaga - WoL points his blade to the sky, and a two columns of thunder hit on both sides of him. Costs 3 MP. If hit, gains 1 BP.
Nuetral Aerial: Blizzaga Blade - WoL casts Blizzaga on his blade as he spins around once. Will freeze foes if hit. Costs 2 MP. No BP received.
Forward Aerial: Aero Slash - WoL slashes his blade forward, which casts a small crescent-shaped blade of wind fly forward slightly, acting like a projectile. Villager cannot pocket this. Costs 3 MP. No BP recieved.
Up Aerial: Crescent Slice [UP] - WoL slashes his blade above himself as an erethreal image of the moon appears in the slash's place. Costs 5 MP. Very good for juggling. If hit, 1 BP recieved.
Backward Aerial: Reverse Shield Bash - WoL bashes his shield behind himself. If hit, 1 BP recieved.
Down Aerial: Crescent Slice [DOWN] - WoL slashes his blade below himself as an erethreal image of the moon appears in the slash's place. Costs 5 MP, acts as a powerful meteor smash. If hit, 1 BP recieved.
Get-Up Attack: WoL spins his blade around himself like a Tornado as he gets up. No BP recieved.
Ledge Attack: WoL stabs his blade at the foes feet as he crawls back up. No BP recieved.
Nuetral Special: Firaga - WoL casts a large, slow moving fireball projectile forward. Costs 8 MP. No BP recieved.
Side Special: Raise Shield/Lower Shield - WoL raises his shield, which will deflect projectiles and stop all frontal attacks. However, he may not jump or use any attacks, and his speed is reduced to a walk. However the move is fast, so you may raise and lower your shield to counterstrike quickly.
Up Special: Ragnorak - WoL spins many times as he rises upward, his blade at a 45 degree angle so it cuts foes and keeps juggling them as he rises. For a recovery move this goes surprisingly high for such a heavy fighter.
Down Special: Item Use/Item Reload - A very small menu opens right in front of WoL. In it, there are 6 items, each with a different power. Just select the item you wish to use. He has 10 items altogether, and after using even one he can press Down B and hold to reload at a rate of 1 items per 1.5 seconds. His items are as follows:
Potion (3) - Drinks a small green potion to recover 10% damage and adds 1 BP.
Ether (2) - Drinks a small blue ether to recover 25% of his MP.
Chocobo Feather (2) - Holds it to run at three times normal speed and adds a third jump with a duration of 15 seconds.
Mog Summon Charm (1) - Summons Mog the Moogle, who will cook up 3 random items in his pot and scatter them near WoL.
Fire Fang (1) - Will imbue all sword attacks with fire for 20 seconds and cancel all BP loss for that time.
Thunder Fang (1) - Will cause a line of 7 thunder bolts to crash down in front of WoL.
Final Smash: Battle Scene - All players are forced into a turn-based battle with a large demon creature who acts like a boss. Special Attacks are the only ones that may be used, and the boss has 250 HP. It will attack players randomly, but they may shield to avoid it. The players may not attack one another, only the boss, and if it (the boss) tries to hit WoL, he will automatically block. Attacks may randomly be critical or miss entirely, and after the battle, any foes of WoL will be sent launched with the knockback of the last attack to hit them, if any.
