Alright so the KoTC gamestop guy that runs these got in touch with me because he likes how I've hosted these in the past and since we go back I told him I would do it. So definitely come through and show some love <3
This event is a big sponsored event by King of the Couch. Info on the group is here at NJHALO.COM there will be lots of other games here as well. Back years ago everyone went to a KOTC event and had a great time. I decided that it was time we had this relationship renewed.
As far as the venue it is HUGE. It is a giant park, think new ROC CITY, and has lots of things to do while you wait for the matches to be called. Here are some vids of the venue

LOCATION: Velocity 17 - 87 Route 17 North. Maywood, NJ 07607
REGISTRATION: 930am - 11am
TOURNAMENT STARTS: 11am ( no more entrees at this time and doubles starts as soon as bracket is made. I am on a fixed schedule so people should come early. )
Venue fee : $10
Tournament Fees : $10 Singles | $10 Doubles per player
There is no CAP on singles or doubles
$3 off for bringing a System/TV
NJ halo is hooking us up with 8 tvs and 4 Wiis and I will put 2-4 of my own televisions to add to it, But I need all your help for the rest! (I only need like 2 TVs but I really need 5+ Wiis!)

Double Elimination
50 Ledge grab rule ( [if you time out each other in a match and you go over 50 ledge grabs you lose that match.]only applies to singles)
Items are OFF including smash ball
Metaknights Infinite Cape Glitch is BANNED.
Scrooging: If you fly under the stage, you must land on the stage in order to repeat flying under the stage again. The moving platform, or any other platform that is distant from the stage (IE: Smashvilles Moving platform) does not count as landing on the stage. First offense is a loss of stock, 2nd offense is a loss of match, 3rd offense is a loss of set.
Doubles:
• Team attack ON
• Life stealing is allowed
Set format (In Order of Procedure):
Opponents choose their characters for the first match *
Opponents start the stage striking procedure
Each player may announce one stage to be banned for counterpicks of the set
The first game is played, using the stage chosen during step 2
The loser of the previous match announces the next match's stage from either the Starter Stage List or the Counter Stage List
The winner of the previous match chooses their character
The loser of the previous match chooses their character
Repeat steps 5-7 for all proceeding matches
*Double blind character selection may be called for the first match
Neutral Stages: Each player can alternately strike a stage until one stage is left. That stage is then played.

BANNED STAGES:
If a stage isn't on the Neutral or Counterpick list it is BANNED. (Although any teams/players may play on a banned stage as long as BOTH players/teams agree to it.)
Mages Dq Rules :
2 Minutes Late: Warning/Loss of first stock
4 Minutes Late: Loss of first match of set
6 Minutes Late: Loss of set
Stage Banning: Each player / team may select up to 1 stages that will be banned from the tournament set
Counterpick Rule: The loser of the match first chooses the stage that the next match of the set will be played on. The opponent, then, makes the choice of changing character or not. than the loser of the match selects his/her character.
• Excessive "Stall" tactics are banned.
• Controller Mods are banned
Violation of any rule is punishable by non-refunded disqualification.
In the event of a TIE at the end of the time limit, the player with the most stocks wins. If both players have one stock then it is decided by percentage. If both players have ONE STOCK and SAME PERCENTAGE the players will quit the SUDDEN DEATH, set the stock to one, and start a match with stage being the same as where they had the tie. This will determine the winner.
Each Round is best of three matches; Grand/Losers/Winners Finals are best of five matches*
Singles seeding will be based on Region/Rankings with some courtesy to crews – you will be spaced evenly as to prevent playing each other in the first round. One of the two criteria must be fulfilled in ordered to be favored. You MUST have 3 or more people in a group hailing from the same region, or you must be part of a crew. Teams seeding will also be seeded in the same way.

Games 2 (And 3 if forced) will be played on a counter pick chosen by the previous game's losing player from the stage list provided:

All sets with the exception of winner's finals, loser's finals, and the championship are best of 3 matches (best of 5 and above should be played out for Winner's Finals, Loser's Finals and Grand Finals matches)
In the event of a dispute, controller ports will be selected by a coin flip.
No player may choose a stage they have already won on in that set unless agreed upon by both players. AKA DSR
If the timer runs out, the victor is determined first by stock and then by percentage.
Meta Knight's Infinite Cape glitch is banned.
If a game ends with suicide attack doing and it ends in sudden death, the sudden death will be ignored and that game will count as a win for the character that initiated it.
You are responsible for your own controller and name tag. Any malfunctions or errors that occur are your responsibility, so bring an extra controller if possible and always check to make sure you're using the correct settings BEFORE a match is played. If a match is to be restarted due to controller functions, it must be agreed upon by both parties.
Any action that can prevent the game from continuing (i.e., freezing, disappearing characters, game reset, etc.) will result in a forfeit of that match for the player that initiated the action. You are responsible for knowing your own character, and must be wary about accidentally triggering one of these effects.
Stalling is banned.
