Ok, lots of questions.
How many people do you have so far? It's a long way to drive for less than 15-20 people.
My dad and I will probably enter the singles, is there a chance of us battling each other in the first round?
If I brought a Wii, would both of us not have to pay the venue fee?
Am I allowed to use the Wii/Chuck? Can I costomize my button configuration? (not modding the controler) Do I have to bring a controler?

Sorry for all the questions, I want to be 100% prepared for this.

1. It's usually random, sometimes we have 17 people, sometimes 33 or more. It all depends on who feels like showing up.
2. Brackets are random.
3. As far as I know, only 1 person would not have to pay, you can contact one of the Arena51 organizers via "aim" and ask because I am not positive.
4. Yes, you are allowed to use the Wii/Chuck. Yes you can customize your button configuration.
5. Bring your own controller.

is rochester on long island?
This may be a trap, but...no rochester is not on long island. Use Map Quest.

lol I don't want to be a pain, but are there any illegal techniques?
Also, here it says that registration begins @ 12:00. On the website it says it begins at 4:00 O_O which is right?

Hey, more questions XD!
Will there be friendly matches before the tournament starts? Also, I still don't know if this starts at 12:00 or 4:00

2 buddies and myself are most likely coming this Saturday.

Quick question though for Yannich or Pika. Is singles usually over by about 7pm? I gotta be back in Buffalo by 9pm for work, and i'm driving.

Singles most likely won't be over by 7 PM. There's a chance though.

:yoshi: Our tournaments have a nasty habit of ending close to midnight.

If you want to come, I would suggest staying for teams and then leaving to make sure you get back on time.

This is my honest opinion; I have no way of forecasting the length of these events due to fluctuating turnouts.

Mm, but one of the 2 ppl i'd be driving with wants to play singles. The DK from the last CJ's tournament.

We shall see though.

Well, 9 hours does seem a bit long, and I haven't been to one of these tourneys, but just to give an idea...

Imagine you had 16 people in a single elim tourney. That's 4 rounds, 3 best of 3, 1 best of 5. If you could play all matches in a round simultaneously and all went the full time (6 mins per game, max games), that's ~1.5 hours of actual game play time. But, in reality, there is lag time between matches, there are not enough setups to play all matches simultaneously, it's double elimination, things tend to start late, you may need a dinner break, and there may be more than 16 people. It adds up. =)
