Middle of the Ohio Tournament 7/15/08

The Venue is an enclosed building located at Selby park. Registration for melee will start at 4:00 p.m. and we would like everyone to be signed up by 4:30. If you are coming only for brawl being there around 6:15 or 6:20 for sign ups will be fine.

Venue fee: $5
Brawl singles: $10
Melee singles: $10

Pot
Split will be:
1st -- 60%
2nd -- 30%
3rd -- 10%

Melee Will be starting at 4:30 be there before hand to sign-up
Brawl Will happen after melee be there around 6:30 (there will be setups for friendlies if the melee segment isn't over yet.

This tourney is the first in what I hope will become bi-weeklies so lets try and make it good!

We (as in I) are responsible for cleaning the place up so try and not make a huge mess. Also for some reason there are no red color drinks allowed inside the building. LOL



Rules
This will be a double elimination tournament.
* Items off.
* Ties are broken by remaining lives, then %. If both criteria are tied, then the Sudden Death match will be played out.
* First stage is random from the Neutral stages listed below.
* The loser of the first match will announce a new stage to play on for the next game. The winner will then be allowed to switch characters, followed by the loser. Apply the same logic for the third match (and fourth/fifth when applicable) if there is one. (Advanced Slob Picks)
* No stage may be used twice in a single set if the counter-picking player has already won on that stage, unless the opponent agrees to use the stage again. (Dave's Stupid Rule)
* Double Blind character pick can be called at anytime before the first game of a set starts, and only apply to the first game.
* Each person may choose one counter-pick stage to be disabled for the entire set at the START OF THE SET, after characters have been chosen but before the random stage has been picked. You may not ban neutral stages.
* Controller Mods, Glitches (IC Freeze Glitch, Mewtwo Soul Stunner, etc), and tactics used to stall a match (wall-bombing, rising pound), are banned.
*Standing infinite's (marth, charazard) are banned
*Metaknight Infinate Dimensional Cape is banned

i think itd be quicker and less confusing to run each tournament separately.
This thing is already starting pretty late and i have class in the mornings, i vote melee first. id like to pull a melee and out, but im sure plenty will stay for both regardless of order

yes! another tournament. I'll probably be there for melee, but I'll probably end up entering both tournaments.

As of right now they will be held at the same time because as you already said it starts pretty late and having one section start at 6 or 6:30 is kinda ridiculous. If enough people want them to happen separately then I will change it but as it stands now they will happen together.

(If they were split Melee would go first because it's what most people want to play more, and a lot of the brawl players I think will be local.

melee and brawl will be going at the same time but if people really don't want this it can change. And as I said before if it does change Melee will be first.

Ya sorry If a lot of people can't come because of the ******** day I can still change it. The place it's at is jam packed during the summer with all sorts of camps and groups so Tuesday at 4 was the only time we could find. And the weekend costs more, but after summer is over (or maybe later in summer) there should be a lot more openings.

Im down for some midweek action, and u cant do singles, doubles, and brawl, starting at 4 on a weekday, but maybe u can i dunno

Ya you are right there would be no way to do bawl/melee singles and doubles starting at 4 on a weeknight (unless we had like 20+ setups lol) . When enough people say they would also want a doubles tourney also I will figure something out.

i would recommend splitting brawl and melee and depending on attendance having doubles, i know if you had brawl singles and doubles and upped the entry fee to 10 a piece me vidjo my brother and sfg would come down, probably give 4% a ride if needed, just a suggestion and a fyi.

hahah we'll probably only do it if entry gets bumped up because of gas prices, and i'd prefer for melee and brawl to be split, so we'll see what the TO says, if we did go it'd be a car of 5 though so it should be amusing.

I am all up for doubles but who wants to do them besides nojoes and 4% APR. If more people say so then it will happen. I had the entry fee at $5 because I thought more people would go if it wasn't expensive but I guess the opposite is true, would anybody object to raising the price to $10? I am almost want to get rid of the brawl section all together but I am guessing most of the locals "scrubs" will be coming for brawl and while they are there they might enter melee (more money in the pot)

About the split, unless people have good reasons other than brawl sucks for them being split they will happen at the same time. It's stupid enough that it's starting at 4 I don't want one section to start at 6:00 or 6:30 thats just too late. (It's not like we only have 2 setups so it's not going to be a huge problem).


Edit: Just a thought but we could have melee be $10 and brawl be $5 that way casual players will still go to play brawl, and more competitive players would have more of a reason to come. Sound good to anyone?

i'm actually a brawl scrub and i haven't played melee in years (kind of makes me sad T_T) so unless the price for brawl comes up sfg and 4% are going to need to find rides. anyone object to higher brawl price?

im not gonna skip class tuesday night so ima miss this. i really wanna play though, so id be willing to host a smashfest in my house this saturday, it could be a good warmup for those of u that r going.

i live a few blocks south of ohio state campus right off of 71, its pretty centrally located. if at least 3 other people respond (enough for some teams) its happenin.

(im lookin to play melee, but ill play brawl too if someone brings a setup)

Yeah, I'm up for going to this, sounds cool. If you PM one of us, or both of us (me and Aquteen) we can share the info with some friends and get anywhere from like 3-7 people there.

In case your too dumb to check the first post (lol) The price has been upped to $10 for melee and brawl. no ones saying anything so it doesn't look like doubles will be happening

cool. my address is 1622 N 4th st, columbus, oh, 43201. if ur coming from 71 jus take 11 st exit to N 4th and turn right and my house is a block down (literally a minute off the highway)

ive got a setup+an extra tv (if someone brings a cube thats two setups, ihave space for another setup if someone brings one)
Bigr might show up too iono who else, i gave up on calling drephen, watty, cok etc. they just depress me, maybe a couple friends from dayton might come up as well
