Bah, AWDoR will be amazing and you know it. :D

Besides, if they used AW characters for Brawl, Flak and Adder would be so much more awesome. :D

Okay, that's my resident AW fanboyism done for now.

I do have to say though...4000 beta testers is a pretty impressive amount. :)

Wow, over a million play Pokemon D & P
That's amazing.

Nintendo is on top for sure!

Doesn't it have wifi capabilities and you can walk around and see other players?
I can't remember...

MARIO KART!
YES!

All we need now is an Animal Crossing Wii, where you can walk around and see other people around the world, and I'm set.

Oh I wasn't saying it wouldn't be awesome! It'll be sick regardless.
What I'm worrying about is playing it on my release-date DS Phat...

Good find, it really is interesting how many people are play testing Brawl.

Oh please, those DS Phats could survive nuclear war. Besides, it's a turn based game...how is playing it on the Phat any disadvantage whatsoever? <_<

As for the beta testing...I think it's interesting that it's around twice as much as Mario Kart too.

Yes...I suppose you're right.

OK BACK ON TOPIC.

Does anyone else find it funny that only 7 people are testing Mario and Sonic at th Olympic Games?

It almost made me think that they made those games just to throw off the Smash fans in initial days.

Conspiracy?

Well, considering M&S has been out for ages, it's not that surprising that the beta testers aren't playing it online.

They're probably just doing it for some fun now.

I might have looked wrong, but I'm talking about the DS game, which hasn't been released.

Hah, you're right.

I appear to be as alert as a concussed moose.

7 Beta testers definitely isn't huge...which either indicates that it's not anywhere near completion yet, or it's a really small project.

Well beta testing is a part-time job in alot of cases, and sometimes (like with Halo3) beta testing is open to the public. I'm sure the 4000+ people beta testing don't work for Nintendo, so it must be something like "tell anyone and you go to jail" but I still don't see how they can control that many people and know which one of them said anything to anybody

Probably some internal testing while developing the game...
But since it's gone gold.. closed beta to devs and their families?

They're bound by an NDA that contractually prevents them from talking till the game is out/they are allowed to.

If they violate it, well, it would really suck to be them.

Mot likely the Beta Testers are the same people that have been working on the game.

That's the thing I can never understand. How would they know if say tester 2,354 out of the 4,000 said something? It could be virtually any one of them if info is leaked

ALSO: you have to remember, these people probably face legal action for anything outside their contract. (e.g. giving out info)

Put yourself in their situation, tell people about the game and risk jail-time? Or be happy that you yourself know all the secrets, and no one else does :D

@ above poster, believe me, they can find out.

Track e-mail, have them log what websites they are members to, track phone calls. I believe in Japan they have something similar to the Patriot Act. I could be wrong though...actually now that I think about it I'm sure I'm wrong.

Maybe if info is leaked they fire the whole team?

If Guitar Hero III has 657,787 connections, then why can I never find anyone to play online?

...Which brings up a good point: are these numbers worldwide or just in the U.S.? The former could make this decidedly less exciting.

I'd say it would be an inhouse thing. Nintendo has the Super Mario Club for this sort of thing.

I'm going out on a limb here, but it's likely that they're worldwide numbers.

Yeah violating an NDA is like getting a dishonorable discharge in the army, if they try to get hired by another game company for testing they will have no chance in hell.

I'm not sure of the specific legal ramifications however.

I'm pretty sure that there aren't over 90 000 North American people playing Jump Ultimate Stars, a game released only in Japan :p
