A Clone Avoided: Waluigi Joins the Assist Trophies

I know what some of you are thinking right now. Some are jumping for joy, some are mourning Waluigi’s placement in Brawl. Waluigi has been added as an Assist Trophy, but still retains the personality that fits his brother’s nature so well.

Sakurai did confirm for all of us with no error in translation that if a character is indeed an Assist Trophy they will never be a playable character. Anyways, let’s get down to this update here.

Waluigi dashes at his opponents, more specifically those he despises most that day. I don’t know how to interpret tha, but it could mean Waluigi may have predetermined characters he is more hostile to than others. I guess we won’t really know until the game’s release.

As Waluigi goes after those he despises he’ll stomp them into the ground…

kick them..

While it is sad to see Waluigi not make it in as an Assist Trophy he still contains the nastiness we all know him for.

Yeah, kinda sad not to see him in, but look on the bright side. Every assist trophy that's as highly rendered as WaLuigi had at least some consideration to be in the roster before being put as an Assist Trophy. Little Mac, Lyn, and some others are like this as well.

Oh, and Stafy's an assist trophy too.

hmm is it today or tommorow for te coro coro roster? best update in weeks though. i guess bad for stafy and waluigi fans. lol waluigi stomped marios legs into the ground....or maybe he sinks in deeper during the attack.

Waluigi's graphics look way better than any other assist trophy... So I'm guessing he got removed.

Awww, I was really hoping to play as Waluigi. I love being a nasty, wicked villain with a cruel sense of humor who ISN'T a farting fatso!

Still, Waluigi really looks to one of the more vicious assist trophies. I'll miss the chance to kick butt as him, but at least I can have him kick others' butt for me!

And there's always the chance he'll be a boss in SSE.

Meh

I never liked Waluigi I always prefered Wario over him. Im not to happy to see him in this game but I am super glad he is not playable. I wouldve so hated it if he was, but Im glad to see an asist instead even thoug I would prefer him not in the game at all. But you cant get everything so this will work I guess.

so at means never a pc ever... an any potential future smash games?!

if that's the case i hope daisy never becomes an at-- think she could do some damage with a strikers outfit and an all sports game moveset; just because peach has her as an alt. WOULD mean she cant be in but look at mario-wario

It would have been cool for luigi to have an antagonist,

awesome double update! not only did we get a mario assist trophy and a cool starfy AT, we got confirmation that there is without a doubt NO waluigi playable in brawl!!! thank god!

Why would people be complaining if Waluigi got in Brawl as a playable character, anyway? Use him as punchbag if you hate him that much. I'd actually like to see Waluigi as a boss in Luigi's second game.

Wow, what a day! Two characters that people were rooting for in SWF have been made into assist trophies.....how sad.

The way Waluigi is included in Brawl worries me. I was so sure he would be in because Wario was in.....But they avoided a clone.

If they messed up Wario's partner, they better not mess up Mario's partner...

Go Luigi go!!!!!! Smash wouldn't be the same without you!

Its not from Mario Power Tennis, is a reference to Mario Tennis 64, the first game that Waluigi appeared in.

I don't think he should've been playable, so this is perfect for him. Can't wait to see him in action. I've got to say though, it's a little odd to show Waluigi before Luigi. Good update.

Sadly I think Luigi has somewhat less of a chance to be in because he'd be clonelike. I hope they come up with an original Luigi moveset. GO LUIGI GO! I don't think Waluigi deserved to be a PC. He'd be too awkward. Besides the Mario Bros have their own game and Wario Brothers, well... Just Wario has his games. If Waluigi had his own game it would be pretty weird O.o.

Yeah, Luigi needs his own moveset. Using the Poltergust would be awesome.

I'm afraid I don't understand this. Sakurai never said he would remove the clones. He never specified which characters he would remove at all. He did, however, say that those that are returning he will try to make them less clone-like. Luigi doesn't even have a chance of not returning. He's too important. Not having in this game would not make any sense at all.

Besides, Luigi wasn't even a clone in Melee. He had his own category we like to call "Luigi-fied".

Daisy won't be an AT... She's already an alternate of Peach. I have a feeling she will stay that way in all future Smashes as well. (if there are any.)

The difference with Mario and his Wario costume is that Wario isn't representing the Mario series, he's representing his own series, Wario Ware. Daisy does not have her own series and costume.
