<p align="center">Sakurai today revealed some useful information about Final Smashes today that have had some people very anxious about receiving the answer to. What’s that question? Simple, it is whether Final Smashes can be triggered by themselves without involving the other items making Final Smash much more viable within a tournament scene.<!--more--><img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/technique09_071205b-l.jpg" title="Break it down!" alt="Break it down!" align="middle" border="0" height="315" width="400" /></p>
As revealed through E-4-All and many other outlets, you can’t just grab the Smash Ball. One has to hit it several times before it releases it’s “good-ness”.
After you’ve obtained the Smash Ball, you’ll emit a glowing aura around you meaning your character is ready to executes its Final Smash.
<p align="center"><img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/technique09_071205c-l.jpg" title="Oooh... perty..." alt="Oooh... perty..." align="middle" border="0" height="315" width="400" /></p>
Obviously some Final Smashes are easier to pull off than others like Peach’s Final Smash which just knocks everyone unconscious and produces fruit, versus Samus’s Final Smash which is a straight power (and wide) beam.
<p align="center"><img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/technique09_071205d-l.jpg" title="Hyduken!" alt="Hyduken!" align="middle" border="0" height="315" width="400" /></p>
<p align="center"> Of course, don’t think you’re safe with a Final Smash because you got the ball. In fact, if you get hit enough, you’ll drop the ball so to speak and someone else can take hold of it.</p>
<p align="center"><img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/technique09_071205f-l.jpg" title="0wN3D!" alt="0wN3D!" align="middle" border="0" height="315" width="400" /></p>
<p align="center"> </p>
<p align="center"><img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/technique09_071205g-l.jpg" title="It's a real pity, isn't it?" alt="It's a real pity, isn't it?" align="middle" border="0" height="315" width="400" /></p>
On top of all this, based on a certain amount of point difference, you can be given a Final Smash for free which Sakurai calls a Pity Final Smash. One would assume this would be broken, but based on E-4-All videos the amount is kind of high to get that and if that is the case than it isn’t broken at all. No Final Smash will save you obviously, but <em>maybe</em> give you a free KO.
<p align="center">Now this most important question is answered here. Yes, Final Smashes can be turned off as well as let you decide on the frequency they show up.</p>
