The last couple of tournies had a bad turnout simply because of the time of year/other tournies on the same day.

Its actually a basic marketing theory...

"If something is less readily available, when available it is more attractive"

If the cave had less smashfests, people would value the individual smashfest moreso then if the amount of smashfests were doubled.

14k is right, is pretty basic business strats. Jeff was smart to have them biweeklies when the demand was high, but a lot of tournies are all over trying to get in before Brawl comes out. Once Brawl is released, bi weeklies will be fun, but right now there are like 2-3 tournies every weekend.

I'm sorry you guys are upset, but I'm not the one that isn't showing up to the tourney. I post that they are happening and when they are happening. I showed up and when no one but Khepri, kels, and 2 other guys where here at 12:30 (the tourney was set to start at 12) I decided that it wasn't going to happen. I am not going to sit around and hope that people show up. I looked at the boards and saw that a lot of people were saying that they weren't coming anyways. The fact that my employees made you guys pay to play, well this is a place of business. You guys didn't' have to stay and play you could have left. But I can't have people coming in and playing for free, if the tournament was going on you guys know that I am more than happy to let friendlies go on for as long as they do. So to hear people say that they aren't ever coming back or calling the Cave broke *** place kinda pisses me off.

I think maybe going to a monthly format until the weather gets better would be a good idea. But don't get pissy with me or blame me that people didn't show up and there wasn't a tournament.

(This is one of the few times you will actually see me get kinda upset, i'm usually a pretty easy going guy)

yeah, i understand the cave is a business but there were so many things wrong about that day.

i called the cave ahead of time to make sure there was a tourny and the girl said there was. so i was like, ok that's good. since no one was there with no memory card, mars said "i can get mine, i live 20 mins away." the girl was working said they'd be open by the time we got back and so i drove mars to his home. 30-40 mins later we get there with the memory card and it's like almost 2 or so and then khepri's said, "we gotta pay to play here." i was like, "wtf, i am NOT leaving this place without playing some smash with this ****in' memory card."

we weren't told we had to pay by the time we left to get that memory card which is probably why everyone stayed. i mean, 3 bucks was a decent deal for one hour and yeah no one showed up, but i didn't feel like i had a choice. in fact, mars had no choice bc his ride was coming at 3 anyway and it was his memory card. he basically had no choice but to pay.

it was bad timing, bad weather, and me just venting about a terrible day for smash.

That's economic theory (Supply and Demand curves). Along each curve, if you change Quantity, Price changes (mostly due to increased/decreased production costs). The demand curve itself does not increase or decrease.

Marketing is about bringing value to the customers, for example using fore-casted market demand and limited availability of a product/service as a selling point (e.g. WHILE SUPPLIES LAST!!!!!).

I know it's not really the point here, but hope I helped! :D

I feel guilty I didn't come, I wouldn't have provided much of a challenge, but at least some people wouldn't have gotten so mad that no one was there. Starting next tourney I will make an actual effort to come, Finals are over (Only failed one, lol) and i think I'll have some more time to myself and maybe the car. The Cave must live on!!!!111one

But you can somewhat control want by creating an atmostphere that makes the consumer want something more.

In the movie 'blood diamond' there is a VERY interesting segment where dicaprio is explainingthe diamond trade... He says that in africa there is a surplus of diamonds, and the Diamond industry monopolized the diamonds and sold less quantity for more money... by making the product seem rarer and more expensive, the consumer desired the diamonds more..And this does happen in real life...The diamond industry just got hit for this illegal activity...anyone who bought a diamond (with receipt) in the last 15 years can claim a certain amount of $$..

The purpose of the file I sent you was to get you to make a direct connection to me, and then I would've been able to get your IP address with Command Prompt, and given it to said people. If only you had accepted, you'd be screwed right now

This topic got way too far off discussion of one tournaments. Threats of hacking are taken VERY serious by us and we can report them to your ISP where they can ban you and you may face legal issues.

Post smart, and there will be no more issues.
