That’s right, we got another “Grab the Ledge” update. For those who are uninformed though, here is the break down of grabbing and throwing.

Then press “A” to grab at your opponent.

Let’s try it again. Block the incoming attack.

You can then throw them in almost any of four directions tilting in the corresponding fashion.

Why cant ike combo, because gimpyfish said so? I bet you could combo with aether after his up throw. And i know his standard attacks have lag before hand, but i'm still skeptical about being as bad as people think it is.
I was at E For All, I played with Ike, I studied Ike. He. Is. Slow.

He can't combo anything. Aether has a very slow start up as well.

Newbie players now know that shield grabbing is essential...

There was a typo in this update.

Ike can't combo.
Have you ever heard the term, "ITS ONLY A DEMO!"...

It was supposed to be a joke at first, but it seems as if people are taking this very seriously. Lighten up guys. (Even though currently Ike can't combo, and I doubt any dramatic changes will be made to him. The characters in the demo were probably characters that were finished being developed, thus, he probably won't improve. But there is hope...I guess)

Look on the bright side of this update: that is a beautiful shield.

Also,

what is that? Is that wave coming off Ike's sword? Does it still hurt? That would be a move with some crazy range.

The shield looks vastly improved, the lines in it makes it look like it is made out of segments, or a sphere with hard edges. The electrical effect looks cool too.

Same. It made it an okay day.

Hoping for a good update after the mediocre-ish updates this week.
well as of now it seems that the updates seem to be going in a 1 week mediocre 1 week some good update..................and sometimes big updates happen on big dates (Sakurai's birthday, conferences, E3 2007...... ect.) so is there any big dates coming up soon (that goes towards nintendo not other compnies)?

any way interesting update since in melee you can grab people that are shielding (annoying CPUs :mad::mad:) it looks like that remains but i can't be to sure.

Back in Melee, I'm sure that many people have overused Captain Falcon's grabs and throws (he has the best dash grab after all). It'll be interesting to see how each character's grabs and throws will work out for this game.

Ike's up throw FTW
I mean come on,first he puts his sword down and then looks like he hits link with an uppercut!
(even though I know it's not a uppercut)

Quit freakin complaining about "mediocre" updates. Mondays was very nice. Yesterday, would you rather us get all the items one by one, or all together?

Well, considering Ragnell could create sword-waves when swung, it's not terribly unlikely.

Are you sure those lines in the first pic are an electrical effect? They look more to me like a crack.

Sakurai seems to think that there are actually people NEW to Brawl that visit the site, while the majority seems to be former Smash players...

It's a good thing he attached this with the Gray Fox update.

I guess so, I think I saw a red and a green one in the demos
but , someone stated; ITS JUST A DEMO, so that may change...or not
Doesn't it depend on which player you are? Player one has red, two has blue, three yellow and four green?

The sweet, sweet land of sweet, sweet, chocolate,
(Baron's pic), that pic doesn't seem right... It looks like Ike has been copied and pasted in the stage, looking at the small cuts and grooves you see evrywhere around him. or is he just a not so well done character?? hope not; he's already slow, with a slow up-B... and he's not going to even look good??
sheesh...

@Stalky: hey, thats right, didn't think of that... >.<
And CPU has grey

I'm kind of glad Sakurai talks about combos, even if it is your standard sheildgrab/throw combo starter. It makes me believe that combos will still be prevalent in the game. I was just thinking that even though we can't wavedash to set up combos, we may be able to run (dash) fast enough now. I according to gimpy fish, many characters have running speed boosts, but everyone is much floater in the air. So as soon as you hit them up, they start floating, and you can run along the ground to keep up. (Of course, once you jump to hit them, you may start floating to much yourself... but at least maybe we can string together medium sized combos.)

It would just be a sucky game if all we can do is basically take turns hitting each other, without much thought for what comes after each attack.
