<p align="center">Following up yesterdays announcment of the latest Newcomer to grace Brawl’s stage, we’ve been given Dedede’s special moves for today!</p>
<p align="center"><img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/kingdedede_071026a-l.jpg" alt="Jump for joy!" /></p>
<!--more-->

<p align="center"><strong>Up Special: Super Dedede Jump</strong>
Name’s very imaginative. It’s another recovery that’s more vertical than horizontal. Great for recovering from great depths, but not that helpful from a distance. It’s strong on impact at landing, but he’s vulnerable after he hits the ground. Of note is he has the little stars come out the side like Yoshi’s Down B in Melee.
<p align="center"><img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/kingdedede_071026b-l.jpg" alt="Yoshi!" /></p>
<p align="center">What’s interesting is that the move is cancelable, it’s something that you have to be careful of when using.</p>

<blockquote>
<p align="center">You can flip over and cancel it in mid-air. However, if you try to cancel just before landing, you’ll make a fool of yourself, and you’ll be vulnerable for even longer, so watch out.</p>
</blockquote>
<p align="center"><img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/kingdedede_071026c-l.jpg" alt="Animal Crossing Human's last moments of life" /></p>

<p align="center"><strong>Forward Special: Waddle Dee Toss</strong>
Another imaginative name. Dedede grabs a Waddle Dee from nowhere and ditches it at his opponent. Often these guys can go wandering around after being thrown.
<p align="center"><img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/kingdedede_071026d-l.jpg" alt="I'm thinking he pulls them from the same alternate dimention that Peach pulls Toad from" /></p>
<p align="center">Seems a bit like Peach’s Turnips? It gets even more similar. Like the turnips, you can pull out other things, but instead of Bombs and Beamswords, it’s Waddle Doos (which shoot an arc of lightning that circles themselves) and Gordos (it’s pointy.)</p>
<p align="center"><img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/kingdedede_071026e-l.jpg" alt="Pikachu's new rival (it's negativly charged, while Pika is positive. Wait, does that mean they're attracted to each other?)" /></p>
<p align="center"><img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/kingdedede_071026f-l.jpg" alt="Dedede suddenly realises what happens when you have something big, heavy and pointy sitting on it's point on your hand." /></p>

<p align="center"><strong>Down Special: Jet Hammer</strong>
You might have guessed but King Dedede’s going to be using his hammer for most of his attacks, and it would be almost shocking if there wasn’t a special move that didn’t use it, but it’s almost shocking in the way it <em>is</em> used.
<p align="center"><img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/kingdedede_071026g-l.jpg" alt="I first thought a Bullet Bill rammed his Hammer" /></p>

<blockquote>
<p align="center">If you hold down the Control Stick and the special-move button simultaneously, you can charge up his hammer. And you can unleash it in one blow! The power of the jet multiplies the destructive force! You can even walk around with it charged up, but you can’t save the charge by pressing the shield button. Also, if you charge it up too much, it will increase your own damage, so be careful.</p>
</blockquote>
<p align="center"><img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/kingdedede_071026h-l.jpg" alt="Falcon HAMMER TO THE FACE! Sigh....I want Falcon to be revealed already :(" /></p>

Interesting moveset, really. I like the way the limitations they set on his moves... seems like they're really striving for some kind of balance in Brawl thus far. That said, anyone taking bets on his neutral B? I bet its similar to Kirby's Swallow, but instead of copying powers, it will work as some kind of command grab, a la the improved Koopa Klaw.

Looks very cool. I'm glad he got some type of range attack. Hope the waddle dees are effective. It would be insane if they do the samething Mr. Saturns did in melee which is eat shields.

Yeah. Dedede is pretty much the only heavyweight I'd ever play. Bowser and DK's recovery B moves suck, but Dedede's moves are just epic.

hopefully his recovery isn't as vertical as Luigi's coin jump in Melee, cause that move was basically useless unless you were right below the stage.

And Dedede's doesn't? It looks like it's as awful as Aether, and his side-B doesn't do anything for recovery. If Dedede floats around, this might be a little different, but it doesn't really look like Dedede's recovery move is WAY better, per se.

Keep in mind that Dedede will likely be able to float, like Kirby, so his recovery should be fairly decent, regardless.

This is lies in reference to Bowser. I'll knock Dedede so far off the stage that he could use his super sucker jump until he was blue in the face and never make it back. Take that pure vertical recovery moves (this is looking at you too, Ike).

Well it really depends on how early you can cancel the up B. If you can cancel it early at a high point and move around after, it wouldn't seem as bad.

Sorry, I missed the point. What's so bad about Aether? I'm talking about the move's use as a RECOVERY. DK and Bowser's recovery move didn't help much at all. They just spun to the side, and they didn't gain much air. At least Dedede jumps high into the air, where he has a chance of grabbing the ledge somewhat.

Vertical recovery moves rock and you know it :3

It looks like "Deetdadee" will have the best recovery out of the heavies. I'm pretty sure he'll have a floating ability, but since he's a heavy I'm expecting only three jumps. His up b, from what I remember from the Kirby games, looks like it can cover some horizontal distance as well. Think of it as Kirby's final cutter.

As for his jet hammer, it looks like it can work like Mario's cape in midair- it could probably give him sort of a hover.

But, that's just me.

What's so bad about Aether? Ike has some of the worst recovery in the game that we've seen so far because of it. Straight up and down moves are terrible, and in a lot of cases predictable.

Hmm, I was thinking that King Dedede's up B would put him into a "float like state" as Metaknight's up B puts him into his gliding state, though I have a new idea.

King Dedede's first jump is just like a normal jump, his second jump however will give him more air and he'll proceed to go into "float mode". If King Dedede has such a state, then I would say his up B would be a way of balancing that state.

Moving on..

Up Special: I really like the overall look of this move. It reminds me a bit of Bowser and Yoshi's down B, only more controllable (you can cancel it).

Side Special: ^_^ Yay Peach. I had loads of fun turnip spamming in Melee and now I'll be able to Waddle Dee spam in Brawl with King Dedede. The after effect of them wondering around after he throws them could be both helpful and hurtful. Helpful because it gives King Dedede more of a chance to use his Waddle Dee's incase he misses catching them one they bounce off a foe, and hurtful because those said foes can also take advantage of his wondering Waddle Dee's.

I like this move alot King Dedede won't always have to attack up close and personal.

Down Special: This reminds me alot of Diddy's up B and DK's Punch (I wonder if this can help in your recovery at all? It doesn't's seem to send you straight downwords like other vB's). Overall it looks like this could be a good KO move, depending on how much you charge it.

I really like King Dedede's special moves, they seem to suit him to a T, I really cannot wait to try him out ^_^

Well this is definitely an epic follow up to yesterdays epic update, imo Dedede has to have the suck on his B it s the only thing it can be. But anyway i think the physics with the Waddle Dee Toss will work with Dedede launching it at epic speed (think about it hes a "HEAVYWEIGHT") and i doubt it will do Mr Saturn damage, it will definitely do more. Finally I have a slight feeling Kirby will be able to suck Waddle Doo for the Beam ability, he just has to.

Always wanted a heavy to call my main. Bowser was fun, but I could never really master him, and DK definitely did some pretty good damage, but something felt off. Ganondorf was hands down my best, but till he's back I won't mention him.

But now Sakurai has gone and given me a heavyweight that looks to be exactly what I would want.
Not only is if freaking KINGDEDEDE, but it's like he carved a boss battle out of Kirby's Dreamland. His epic jump that produces large stars at the end, his use of his minions that come from seemingly no where (Three different kinds, no less!) right down to his hammer swing with a new very fancy twist (That is akin to, but not exactly like, my favorite DK move, the charge up punch).

The Waddle Dee toss reminds me of Peach, who is my best character hands down in Melee along with Kirby.
Like someone else mentioned, his neutral B is probably a move similar to Kirby's suck in, which then becomes a throw. Which combines my favorite move from Bowser with my favorite character's (Kirby) coolest move. If he recovers like Kirby (Less jumps obviously, being... heavy), then I'm absolutely and completely sold.

What's his FS gonna be? Releasing Dark Matter accidentally? Or perhaps he summons one of the bosses from the Kirby games randomly to wreak havoc upon the stage? Or perhaps he summons a whole mountain of Waddle Dees... Or perhaps he whips out the Star Rod and can fire powerful Stars all over at will..Who knows.

Regardless of what it is, I'm pretty sure I found my new main.

So Dedede can cancel his UpB recovery like Fox can cancel his Illusion? Talk about mindgames. =P

(Really, though. Say you're wayyyy below the stage. You can: A) come up just below the edge so you grab it, B) come up at stage level so your momentum can carry you over, or C) go above stage level--at any given height--and either cancel your jump or follow through and (hopefully!) land on the platform or snag the ledge on the way down. Sounds pretty useful!)

And I guess his Neutral B will be Inhale?

(AAAAAAAAAAND we STILL haven't seen Lucas' SM. :cry:)

What is his possible recovery move? It seems his Up-B doesn't look like one.
Well he most likely will have multiple jumps or something along those lines so he didn't need that much of a recovery...

At least he should to stay true to the character

I think they should have swapped the down b with the side b. But hey no biggie.

Also, compared to Dedede, Bowser and DK in that screenshot, Wario looks like a ragdoll.

Pretty nice move set. Most likely he'll have multiple jumps(similar to Kirby). I'm guessing regular B is sucking up enemies like Kirby but instead of getting a power you do something else.

King Dedede's moves turned out to be more interesting than I thought. Then again, he is from a Kirby game so it's bound to happen.

His B move will be his vaccuum mouth. He will suck in characters and launch them out (hopefully aimable to some extent).

But I think the real key to using this is first throwing out a Waddle Dee or other minion. Sucking them up and spewing them out at foes.

His toss does not look that powerful, but the enemies walk around after. So I do think he will be able to suck them in and shoot them out.

I am thinking though that his minions won't be spammable. Just as Diddy can only have two bananas out, maybe King Dedede can only have a limited amount of troops on the map.

Remember, kids: auto-sweetspotting in Brawl! Let's hope they were nice enough to give King Dedede that, and maybe some extra jumps to boot? Then it would all work out.

Anyways, he looks awesome so far. Side B = WIN!

I love his side special.

Also, the stars appearing when he lands are a Kirby original, whenever he (or any boss/miniboss) lands on the ground, stars will appear on both sides, allowing Kirby to suck them up. I wonder if Kirby can do the same for DeDeDe's move.
