I've been using this since September - its a very small simple countdown program which sticks on to your desktop. PhanTim3 is only like 644kb. Skins average around 35kb each.

I made this skin myself and I'm pretty proud of it.

OK Steps How to Do it:


Step 1. Download the program.

Go here to and click download.

Step 2. Download a skin:
a. You can download mine: (the white one above)

b. Scroll down and download one of the other skins.

Step 3. Install Phantim3

Step 4. Right Click on the Timer, Choose Time/Date I put

US Release:
December 3 , 2007 12am
February 10, 2008 12am
March 9, 2008 12am T_T

JP Release:
January 31, 2008 12am

(sorry Europeans and everyone else in the world w/ no release date)

Step 5. Open the skin, its in a .rar format.
(For those who don't know, WinRar is a very commonly used and owned program used to extract .rar files. Its safe, and free. (dont worry about if it says trial expire or anything, i've been using it for many years)

-Right Click the .rar skin file and "Extract Here"

Step 6. Put the skin folder in Program Files--> PhanTim3--> Skins

Step 7. Right Click, Choose Skin (click REFRESH if it doesn't come up)

To Create Your Own
What You Need:
A picture editing program
- If you don't have one or have a crappy one you can use Paint.net which I use. http://www.getpaint.net/ its free + small + simple + have some great Photoshop tools/functions
And you'll need pictures obviously:
- For character pictures you can go to http://planetrenders.net/ search "smash"
(does anyone know any other good picture sites? post it)

Step 1. Create a folder with whatever name you want.

Step 2. Within that folder you will have 2 files.

File 1. a picture 250x90 named 'back' (IMPORTANT!!!) and JPEG format (a few other fonts also work)

File 2. a simple text file, i use Notepad named 'Custom'

paste in the text file this: (this is what i used for my kirby hats + character screenshots skins)


Step 3. Put it in your "Skins" folder and you are done. (Program Folders-->Phantim3-->Skins)

-Look at the default skin's folder w/ the picture and text file to figure stuff out.
-Look at "Download Other Skins" below for ideas.


To Make Your Skins Randomly Change Every 5 Minutes:

Most of these skins are in packs/sets and are nicer if you set them to change randomly. So to do that, click the blue circle thing next to random then click any other thingies next to which ever skins you want to play randomly.

(Skin change every 5 minutes, that is the fastest)

If you want you can edit the edges to match your desktop wallpaper.
1. edit your pic, erase the black boarder around the skin
2. screen shot copy paste the area of your desktop background where you are putting your countdown
3. put 1 on top of 2

The hats I used were created by Hextupleyoodot from Nintendo forums (which is closed right now). I also give big credit to bob-e because I stole his date/time stuff. Without it iono how I would of fitted the date/time. And credit to Hitaku for his Smash Bros. Kirby logo idea. If I find more hats I will post them up.

Wow I'm feeling good, accomplished, and happy already just from these 2 replys. I can try to help a little if you anyone wants to edit the skin but if you know how to edit pictures already you can probably to it- not hard.

I'm not sure, I'd rather have one large wallpaper pic of Diddy kong then multiples if I had to choose I would choose the 2nd one? but both hard to see icons. You didn't change the skin! You should use the Brawl Skin! Well thats fine but I prefer the Brawl Skin.

Also maybe change your pics to links so its easier to look through the thread or make them smaller.

Just change the Time/Date to what ever you want.

I cant download your megaupload file, but I have the image for the skin.
Could you give us the font/coordinates you used for the time file?

If you guys can't get download my skin, you can do it yourself.

Step 1. Make a folder 'SSBB' or whatever you want to call it.

Step 2. Save this picture and put it in the folder Phantim3--> Skins . (not sure what format, mine was JPEG)


MAKE SURE THE PICTURE IS NAMED 'back' for it to work.

Step 3. Make a simple text file on 'Notepad' paste these in it save the text file as 'Custom'

You can also make your own using these steps. Just remember:
1. The right image size
2. you have to play with the numbers of the text thing to move the date/time around

An easy way to make your own countdown is just to use mine and top box portion above the time/date rectangle
I would not recommend changing the Time/Date stuff because its hard to get it right.

So if your own quick and easy countdown skin just change anything but the date stuff

Other things:
-If you can't download from megaupload, I can upload it somewhere else. Tell me which to upload to.
-Also how do you edited the Tread name? I want to make it sound more appealing.
-O and I want everyone to have a desktop countdown so any ideas for Tread Names? So people are more interested.

Step 1. Right Click the Countdown Timer

Step 2. Make sure the 'Stick To Desktop' is unchecked

Step 3. Now you can move it around to where ever you want then click 'Stick To Desktop'

As a reminder to make the timer a better experience:
Select/checkmark 'Start at Startup' and 'Stick To Desktop' if you want you can also 'Hide Desktop Icon'

just use any painting/ editing program and paste a picture onto my skin.
I stretched the Isaac picture to fit it there.

You can try to figure it out by looking at the default skin's picture and text file included in Phantim3

If this doesn't help your question, you'll have to ask me more specific question.

You can feel free to use those Isaac ones if you want (the ones w/o numbers)
make a folder in 'Skins'--> copy the text file from my skin--> paste it in folder--> put the picture but make sure its named 'back'

Well which programs you use?
Doesn't matter how, I would use my original SSBB skin picture which is already 250x90 and paste a picture over it keeping the 250x90 size.

O i realize i dont have regular microsoft paint (ms paint) anymore.

If you want you can download Paint.net which i like to use (small program + has some basic Photoshop tools and stuff + free)

open the program, 'File', 'New' and then in 'Image' click 'Canvas Size' and make it 250x90 then stretch ur pic into it.

i use paint and well if u do what u said about the ssbb then paste over well it fills it up
maybe u can tell me what u use and tell where to get it ^_^
