This is my favorite newcomer so a chance to see the abilities this character uses is something I’ve been looking forward to. People who are avoiding spoilers…well good luck to you. You’re going to be happy when Brawl comes out. :)

<!--more-->

<strong><em>Squirtle</em></strong>
<strong><em> </em></strong><strong>Up Special</strong>
Waterfall: Squirtle’s recovery move. Like spawning salmon, Squirtle leaps up the waterfall to return to the stage, or to just attack.
<p align="center"> <img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/pokemon_trainer_070829a-l.jpg" alt="Just like the spawning salmon...oh wait, already used that &gt;.&lt;" /></p>
<strong>Forward Special</strong>
Withdraw: Whether this can be used to block damage is doubtful, though does look like it’s a fun attack, similar to Yoshi’s Forward Special from Melee. Unknown, though quite possible to be charged, like Jigglypuff’s Rollout.
<p align="center"> <img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/pokemon_trainer_070829b-l.jpg" alt="Squirtle held it in too long." /></p>

<p align="left"><strong><em>Ivysaur</em></strong>
<strong> Neutral Special</strong>
Bullet Seed: Shoots a stream of seeds from Ivysaur’s back “straight up in the air.” I personally am expecting this to be aimable, otherwise I don’t see it being hugely useful.
<p align="center"> <img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/pokemon_trainer_070829c-l.jpg" alt="Mario's looking a little seedy." /></p>

<p align="left"><strong>Up Special</strong>
Vine Whip: Honestly, who didn’t see this coming? Used to grab the edge like Link’s grapple, Ivysaur shoots out a vine whip to grab the stage. Not sure what this attack would be like on the ground, like Sheik’s Chain from Melee perhaps?
<p align="center"> <img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/pokemon_trainer_070829d-l.jpg" alt="If you're gonna show us Kirby with any new characters, show him wearing a new hat Sakurai!" /></p>

<p align="left"><strong><em>Charizard</em></strong>
<strong> Neutral Special</strong>
Flame Thrower: Enough said.
<p align="center"> <img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/pokemon_trainer_070829e-l.jpg" alt="Hey Fox, not so hot now, huh? Ahahaha!" /></p>

<p align="left"><strong>Forward Special</strong>
Rock Smash: Charizard picks up a rock and headbutts it toward his opponent. It does damage. Look, it’s pretty straight forward, so I’m not going to bother with a lot of description. I think I can trust you guys to work it out.
<p align="center"> <img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/pokemon_trainer_070829f-l.jpg" alt="Huh huh huh, I said butt, huh huh" /></p>

what? I gotta comment again?

anyway, as I said before, squirtle's water effects look downright amazing, bullet seed looks like an extremely comboable move(high tier anyone?), charizard looks plain awesome.

There's very likely a delay between bullet fires, anyways.
You think there will be unique Final Smashes? Or maybe just one single one?
I thought it would be cool if for a Final Smash, PT would throw a Master Ball onto the field.
And then a random Legendary Pokémon comes out to wreak havok.

-nevermind what I wrote here-

I guess this was an epic update for you then... Andross made me flip out yesterday... that was probably among my favorite updates so far.. if not my favorite update completly.

EDIT :

Just read kirbykings post. I think its a good idea for the staff to handle update threads, as it will avoid clutter, and the mad race for who can get a topic going first.

Bullet Seed could be used kind of like pikachu's thunder if it's not aimable...
In my opinion, because bullet seed is nowhere near as powerful looking as thunder, I see it very inevitable that it'd come out alot faster.

Yea, basically, even if there was some crazy combo against a handful of fast fallers I doubt it'll be anything that DI'ing won't cancel out after the first seed.

It'd be awesome if the seeds desended downward after you shoot them up. It'd set up nasty mindgame traps. All in all I never see myself using these guys though they just seem too irrational to be used. That is if they aren't all magically high or mid tier.
Continuing a discussion I was having...

Yeah, good thinking, good ideas. The seed shooting special move is the only one that caught my eye, the rest seem kind of meh...

Cant wait to see how skilled smashers use these seeds in their poke-combos :)

It makes me wanna go get a glass of H20 right now. Yeah, the graphics of the water look sweet now that I have a second look at it.

Other than that, the update is rather mundane and boring......

Squirtle's FowardB looks decent, but all of Charizard's B moves look along the lines of useless for the most part. I see him holding the two others back.

Skull Kid 4 Brawl!
Run into traffic...

edit: And on that note, I'm off to bed.

One update. so many threads lol.

The Pokemon Trainer actually stands on the Bridge of Eldin. What's he going to do when it collapses? Just run to a non collapsed bit? That seems likely and would mean that the PT moves in the background more then I thought.

As for the moves Squirtle looks amazing while Ivysaur worries me. Vertical neutral B? Seems useless unless people decide to jump over you all the time. Charizard's <B is surprising. Going to experiment with PT as soon as I get a copy.

poketrainer seems to move along with his pokemon, so I suppose poketrainer can only fall off if his pokemon fall off. Then he'll be regenerated along with his pokemon.

Yes I've been waiting for this the longest. Now I can rest at ease. Squirtle again proves to be awesome. I'm a little worried about the other two though. Bullet seed might be cool.

Seems so. Will be interesting to see how it works for sure. Here's hoping for a PT Final Smash update soon.

I'm wondering if the Trainer can move farther and closer to the screen, since he seems so near in the last screenshot.

Also, am I the only one who thought "Entei" when they saw Bullet Seed?

I think when the bridge breaks he will have a flying pokemon hold him up so he wont fall. I just dont see why they would just let him fall.

I reckon

Squirtle's B = Bubble or Water Gun ( I'd prefer bubble where he just spams bubbles out )

Ivysaurs B> = Like ShoDan said, razorleaf.

Charizards B^ = Fly.

I figure the rock in Charizard's Rock Smash is merely showing the hitbox of the attack that is about to come.

Kinnikuman used POST!

High tier period. One of the best updates for me in a while. I bets homeless is very happy! :)
So bubble would be a cool move 4 squrtile. Charizard isn't going to be weak theres no way sakurai would do that right?
Captain falcon = tomorow
NOOK 4 BRAWL!

I'm not sure. I noticed that the trainer is using signals while the attacks commence. Does that mean that they have to wait for him? That could make a lot of lag if he's not just a decoration.

Was i the only one expecting spinning hydro pump for squirtles up special? I think each pokemon will have their own final smash and that will be squirtles

My guess is that the final smash will be a 4th pokemon in form of mewtwo (far stronger then in melee of course)

mewtwo will be replaced with lucario as pc

He left 6 out technically. squirtles down and neutral, ivysaurs down and side, and charizards down and up. So tehcnically he showed half of each pokemons moves. I know down is just switch but still, come on not bad seeing as he's given us just 2 moves before (with pit), and could have done so with each different pokemon.

Have to say, squirtles lookin prettyful. Ivysaur I hope has some move that will combo into bullet seed, and again I too wonder how up special tethers will work on ground.
Charizard is a little disappointing. Flamethrower is obvious (hopefully aimable), but rock smash... hmm. Not sure whether he gets the rock from the ground, it just appears, or its just an item or something and shown as a hitbox. Whatever the case, I hope they make it more interesting and useful than it sounds...

Squirtle's B = Bubble
Ivysaur's Side B = Razor Leaf
Charizard's Up B = SEISMIC TOSS - Come on! That would be awesome - it'd be like CF's/Ganondorf's Up + B - but the foe will be thrown straight down. It would only be a KO Spike at high percentages, but as soon as I saw Charizard, I thought back to the episode of Pokémon where Charizard faces Magmar above the Volcano. Please, Seismic Toss would be incredible!

And yes Darck, I too thought of Entei's ability in Melee when I saw Ivysaur's Bullet Seed. All characters next to it were sucked into the Column of Doom - so I'm assuming it'll happen to a lesser extent for Ivysaur, all chars immediately next to it will get sucked in.

EDIT: Video Showcasing the Awesomeness of Seismic Toss - and why it should be Charizard's Up B

I think a fourth poke will be the final smash but definitly not Mewtwo. Mew should be the fourth poke. Or what about Dragonite.

the earthquake thingy was probably his dair contacting the ground, his down smash or the beggening segment of fly.

Sakurai is really using the tether recovery. I just hope he don't overdue it.

I'm not gonna say that bullet seed is useless. It looks great for juggling the opponent. Vine Whip could be just a quick move.

Charizard's Rock Smash confuses me. What does the damage? Is it the rock breaking into bits or is it the headbutt?
