If and if Sonic joins the Brawl, I think Green Hill Zone would perfectly fit his style. Do you think any other stage could represent the Hedgehog. Ice Cap Zone, Carnival Nights Zone. :) Discuss.

Green Hill Zone wins:

Stage:

The dotted section would be the ground, of course with green grass and checkered brown on the side. The two rectangle-ish figures would be platforms, but instead of hovering like most stages, they'd be hills that you could jump on. Same look as the floor. Double jumping would be necessary to land on the hills to fight, and hitting down would take you back to ground level. Of course palm trees in the background with clouds in the blue sky, and shimmering water as well.

Hazards for the stage could be badniks, like the bee, who would fly towards a certain point in the screen, pause, then fire a volley of yellow blasts. Or, you could have those ladybug-looking robots roll by on the ground level, forcing the players to jump to the hills. Hitting either badnik would of course, cause them to explode and little forest creatures come flying out and hop away.

I like the badniks included idea, make everything remain old school also. Waterfalls, pine trees, everything from the classics to remain there, also items such as rings used to heal you.

If he makes it, I can't think of anything better than to go back to Sonic's roots.
I'd rather have the GHZ than stupid Station Square or whatever.
Ghz would be a pleasant stage too, i'd like it.
Sonic's Morbius days ftw

Green Hill zone, Emerald Hill zone, or any zone would make a great Sonic stage, they really don't have to change much. I just had an idea about Sonic stages...what if they had item boxes that you could jump on to interact with? The 10-coin box could take off 10 or your damage, the Shield box would actually give you a shield, invincibility box would give you a star, etc. And more possibilities if items were on! :)

Actually, Sonic the Hedgehog took place on South Island, a large island which is part of New Zealand that exists to the East of Australia.

Mobius? Eh, I always preferred Mobius to be the universe within the Sonic comics. (Archie)

heres a more "tourney legal" idea for a stage that would still be cool and unique.

the picture you showed has the mushroom kingdom effect where you die easily just by being thrown while at the edge of the stage which is really annoying.
the stage would keep going a bit off the sides and botom to give you space to recover.
the swinging platform in the middle. also i think random enemies would be OK but shoul not show up if items are turned off.

I like the stage design with the swinging platform. Just to note, I think adding a loop in the background would be a nice cosmetic touch for the stage because it seems weird to have a Green Hill anything without a loop.

Angel Island, Station Square and Green Hill Zone win. All 3 stages were defining areas in Sonic's life and yea, they help with the gaming.

angel island and emerald hill would be cool but what if they put in flying battery zone or chemical plant zone. those levels were absolutely awesome to play and had really sweet music which would make good battle tunes. sky sanctuary would also be a fun level with bouncing clouds and the spinning rope thing hah i think it would look prretty amazing too

Wow, I totally forgot to draw the pit on both sides, or even mention them for that matter. My apologies.

Your design does look better.

I made an improved design. Took me less than 10 minutes, so yeah:

Thought I'd mix it up a little.

I figured you can temporarily be invincible while running through the loop, then lose it once you've finished the loop itself.

You can grab both ledges on the loop, and the left ground ledge.

Remember in Sonic 1 where you could break through the wall? Thought I'd make it so if you attacked into that platform on the far right, it would reveal a tunnel that leads to the right side. The wall could respawn back in like the bricks do in the mushroom kingdom levels.

Also, both the edge of the tunnel near the pit, and the top right ledge of the platform can be grabbed.

So yea, my envision of a Green Hill Zone.

This is Carnival Nights Zone from Sonic 3!(Pardon the sloppiness, I'm not so good in Paint)

The four platforms are each starting platforms for the four players(this gives you a good example of the scale of the level). The top two are normal, stationary platforms. The bottom two are slanted, thus, if you land on certain points of them you will slide downward. You can jump through the top two platforms, but the bottom two are completely solid.

The two red and white things at the very bottom center are supposed to be those annoying barrels that you never figured out how to get past when you were seven playing Sonic 3. If you jump on them in Smash, they will bounce you upward at the height of a double jump. If you double jump them with the right timing, or if the barrel is jumped on multiple times in a certain time span, the barrel will fall and won't re-appear for a given amount of time. Thus, if both barrels are gone, and you slide off the bottom platforms, you will basically be plummeting to your death and will have trouble making it back to safe ground.(though it isn't impossible with any given character, it's just, if you try to recover you will just lnd on the platfiorm and slide again, making it quite a struggle!)

The middle platform? It spins clockwise at a slow pace, so you also have to be careful not to fall off! The farther away it is from a perfect 180 degree line, the more you slide. So don't get too caught up in battle, because this is anarea where you must be constantly moving. Don't worry if you fall off, though, because you can jump through the platform itself if you react fast enough.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention the white and red orbs to the left and right of the center platform. Remember the floating bumper in the original Peach's Castle from SSB64? Well, these act sort of like that one did, except they don't move. They're basically mid-air bumpers, I should say. Except they're classic Sonic style, and they make make the little 'boop' sound when you hit them like in the original Carnival Nights(Or are they from a different zone...?)

I'm begining to sound a little like Sakurai here. =P

thats cool. since Sakurais making stages take u to different places tho, wut if u could run thru the actual GHZ stage with at least one platform every stop. just an idea tho
Sounds pretty awesome. I wonder if that would be the case for the Story mode or an adventure mode of sorts.

Just a run through Green Hill with someone like Captain Falcon would be pretty funny.

Ah yea the loops, only running fast makes you capable of running up it. Captain falcon, and Sonic would just dominate that stage, I say include the stage in adventure mode( if the original returns alongside the subspace thing) since we have to possibly wait till December to get a final confirmation of Sonic.

True, but regardless.

That stage'd rock.

I would love a Green Hill Zone stage - especially the Smash music treatment it would receive. I'd like it to be pretty big to incorporate a lot of the design elements of the original game: bridges, floating platforms, swinging platforms, collapsing bridges, and springs. (I really like the springs)

I'd also like to see the item boxes be used for the crates - I admit I can't think of a good barrel idea...

Hey everyone. First post.

Anyways, I'm like almost everyone here in saying essentially Sonic is a shoe-in. So having his own stage is VERY likely. Green Hill Zone is the obvious choice, no doubt.

But, I kind of wanted to reply to Master Peach's post. Are you talking about Sunset Hills from Sonic Advance 3?

If so, I will absolutely agree with you on the music part. Sunset Hills Act 1 music has to be the best remixed version of Green Hill Zones music. I LOVE it. I don't know if they would use it over Green Hill Zones music, but at least maybe put it in like they did with some of the stages in Melee. When you held L, you could get a different music for the stage. Sunset Hills music at least deserves that much.

For the people who would like to listen to it: http://vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/gba/SonicAdvance3_SunsetHill1.mid

I'm sure that we are gonna see the Green Hill stage if sonic makes it, after all, it's his "signiture stage" so I can't imagine seeing Sonic without his homestage, or maybe we'll most likely see a stage from his new game Sonic & The Secret Rings or from Sonic the Hedgehog (the new one)

Green Hill does seem like the obvious choice, although it might be overdone. It was already a super secret unlockable stage in both SA2B & Sonic Battle. Using it yet again is kinda overkill.

Green Hill would be practically a shoe-in, a casino stage would be alright with its gimmicks, but i thought the death egg would be the best from Sonic 2.

Green Hills would be great (goes right back to sonics roots). Really any old skool sonic stage for that matter.

Ice Cap is a pretty good choice too, as the music in that stage is probably the most well known and liked out of any other track in Sonics history.

I think it would be cool to see Chemical Plant or Hydro City though, (Im all for obscurities :))

well, since Sonic would be a 3rd party, he would most likely get one stage. Green Hill Zone would be the one with the highest chances (although a Station Square one wouldnt be too bad) because because its like the most original stage for Sonic, plus Sakurai likes oldies.
Some people say that the Sonic Advance games suck. i never got them, so is it true?
