She searched in her purse all day looking for some rupees but all see found were Toads, a toaster and some coins.

Except Mario ate all the bread in the castle before she got home. She slowly began learning that toasters actually toast bread from one of the Toads in her purse after she got home.

She gave him all her coins as a tip for helping her, but then ate him with a hefty serving of gravy for correcting her.

Bowser then came to save the day by isolating Peach from the Mushroom Kingdom to prevent the deaths of many more toads.

Unfortunately, Mario also wanted Toads to die in brutally horrible ways, so he set out to bring back Peach before she had been properly rehabillitated.

Mario met many people on his quest...that he brutally stomped on as if it was a greeting.
His innocent younger brother Luigi came along on the journey, totally unaware of both his brother's and Bowser's true intentions. He avoided attacking anyone or anything whenever possible.
