Not necessarily. For example, I really do not have consistent use for the 'like' button. As a result, the 'like' becomes the more meaningless thing. I sometimes use it as acknowledgement, but not always. I sometimes use it to express respect, but not always... Sometimes I do not use it when I often would have. It is not for any personal reason. I just do not use it consistently. For this, and many other reasons, I would not miss that functionality if it disappeared. You never know how personally the receiver takes it or its absence.
