    It's still possible. Although, I find tapping down for the drop the easiest for doing this since tapping away from the stage doesn't drop you low enough for the QD jc to work (unless you do the reverse momentum QD as explained in the OP...). Best way to practice this is to go in training mode...

    Haha, glad it works for you! That was also my intention when setting it to z as well, so it does work/help (although I tend to just use x for wave dashing nowadays :/).

    I just have z set as jump so I can have my thumb on the c-stick for a QD USmash. It's nice since I also have grab set to the right-trigger, hence it makes for very easy QD JC grabs (or JC grabs in general).

    When doing QD from the ledge, I keep hovering above the stage a bit which in turn doesn't allow me to jump from the ground.
