I feel like melee is the better choice for EVO, given it is established and has proven it draws a large crowd (of both competitive and causal viewers). Melee is at its peak right now, it's a sure bet that including it would be a success, whereas Sm4sh is more of a gamble.

He's still very light and has slow fall speed though, making him easy to KO. I would still argue that he's worse than most characters with similar kits, ie pika squirtle & diddy

I think people are underestimating ivysuar a bit. I'm not saying he should be top tier or anything but he has good spacing options with fair/bair as well as good ledguarding options (bair ***** chars with linear recovery). He can also shut down approaches decently with his projectiles and aerials.

Any "walk-off" stage like onett where you can just walk through the blast line will never be tournament legal. The reason they removed the 2nd transformation of castle seige (the walk-off one) was to make that stage more tourney-legal. Also, just because wall infinites may be different doesn't...
