I think I will try elaborate some of the Pikmin information... In Pikmin the thing on top of their heads represents the Pikmin's evolution from leaf to bud to flower, as they evolve they get increases in strength and speed (maybe health..never noticed if so). The same case could apply to smash...

Man hearing that Dedede gets his Japanese anime voice is indeed a blessing if all Dedede does is grunts and no VO, but man I so hope we don't get that horrendous 4Kids Dedede. On a side note i have noted in majority of the anime I watch, the Japanese do very well in choosing their voice actors...
