Genesect is a really old bug. But Genesect was eventually modified by Team Plasma, Black and White's version of Team Rocket, giving it a giant gun on its back. It's one of those event legendaries, so I'd compare it to Deoxys.

If it was freezing after every match (or half of them), you may need to include a custom Random code in your GCT. Its a code that determines the characters that can be selected by random. I know I've stopped many of my freezes because of this code. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it would...

Another Mario game that Slime appeared in was Itadeki Street, a Japan only game for the DS released in 2007. Considering that Slime is also appearing in Fortune Street, which looks to be an international game, I'd say Slime's the best choice for a Square Enix rep.
