Time to update the list! Thanks to patch 6.0 the ruleset change inside an arena problem is no more. Finally! No more annoying closing / reopening arenas for just a tiny rule change

The recent datamine looks promising for the online mode, with 3 new modes spotted. Probably squad strike, smashdown and an unknown one. Still ridiculous since these modes should have been avaiable since Day one lol

For arenas : 9. You can't put CPU players (you could do that both in Brawl and 4 lol) 10. You can let Amiibos play (nice!) but you can't play with them. It's you or the amiibo

Because of that, smashdown and squad strike are basically forgotten modes now, since nobody can test them in online tournaments formula. Heck, they don't even try it in local tournaments. What a waste

Update 3.0 will show us if they are aware of the mess they have made. Let's cross fingers

Nono, the host can decide to activate spirits or not, regardless the ruleset choosed. They can also choose the music in the arena, random stages or not and more. The guest can simply look at the rules once inside the arena

Oh right, that. That is pretty obscure: you must press Y where you choose the mode, rules and other, to see the advanced options. It took me a while as well

Arena problems for now are only about missing quality of life features, like easy rules change (only in friends arena), host change when the host leaves, CPUs and characters /stage selection. Then it should let play more than one battle at time, especially in 1vs1 arenas, where waiting times...

Don't forget smashdown and special smash! But yeah, absolutely. Like the online wasn't problematic enough, you can't even play every mode online! Why ARMS, Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon 2 let every mode be playable online but not Smash? I understand 8 players smash, god, imagine the lag... But...

I actually played arenas with only friends, never looked for random arenas
