I played Smash 64 at least 8 - 10 years after it came out, so I'm relatively new to the series in comparison to many others my age. I'm 21 and I already had a GameCube before I ever played Smash 64. As soon as I played it, though... I was instantly glued to it. I could not put it down. It actually introduced me to Metroid, F-Zero, Star Fox, and to an extent, Zelda. I had already played Zelda once upon a time, but it never clicked that I was playing as Link, or that his name was Link. Originally, I'd always main Pikachu, because I was a HUGE Pokemon fan. Now, I had the GameCube well before I knew Smash existed, so it never occurred to me that Smash also existed on the GameGube. "Mario Kart Double Dash!!" was enough to keep me invested in the GameCube to overshadow "Melee". Also, very few of my close friends had it. Now, when the Wii came out and Smash was released for it, that's when I was really hardcore into it. I can't tell you how much I'd played that game to the point where I'd completed the story mode on it multiple times. Also, SONIC was in it. Now it wasn't until maybe a year to 2 years after I had owned Brawl that I went to a friend's house and played Melee for the first time. Annnd.... unfortunately for the elitists, it wasn't as instantly engaging to me as the other two. Maybe that's because I'd already played the other two, but in my eyes, I only was it as just another Smash bros. Oh, don't get me wrong... I had the time of my life playing like I had with the others. It's just I never really had much time playing it.

Now, you want to talk about the most hyped-up game I've ever participated in. Well, along with Splatoon, anyway? Enter Smash 4. The funny thing is, I never actually got to join the "Hype Train" before it came out. I had joined the Army Reserve and gone to basic training the August before the game came out. However, I did have things like "GameInformer" magazines and word-of-mouth to hear about, but it was always under the radar. Then, in Holiday of 2014, I had HBL (Holiday Block Leave) where I was able to visit the house for 2 weeks before having to go back to finish training. Guess what the 1st thing I bought was... A Wii U and Smash 4.

That's when it hit me. "OK... Who do we got? We got Mario, we got Bowser, we got.... ROSALINA!? BOWSER JR.?!?! We got... wtf is Little Mac? OH! Zelda and Shiek are their own characters! OOOHHH!!! SAME WITH SAMUS! Umm... let's see... Palutena? OH yeah, the goddess. Nice, Marth, Ike, and... Robin? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm *instant intrigue*. DUCK HUNT? Hahahaha! Noice... Kirby, Fox, Falco... THAT AINT WOLF! Where the F*** is he? Charizard's his own character?! WhoTF Shulk?"

Basically, I was introduced to like 10 different franchises in like 10 seconds, and good God, did it make me want to play their respective games. It wasn't until I realized that I owned FE:Awakening, that I started playing both Awakening and maining Robin at the same time. AND JESUS CHRIST I WAS MISSING OUT ON BOTH FOR MONTHS JUST CAUSE I JOINED THE ARMY. And don't even get me started on DLC...
