I would throw a Waddle Dee, if Zelda's close enough or in range, to throw off her timing. Then get below and close to the stage (assuming it's FD shaped) because Dinn's Fire can't reach there easily. And use his Super Jump to recover.

Actually, the areas WITH the flag are the ones you need to revisit. The flag means that you haven't gotten located all of the box-things. You'll when you've found all of them when, on the map, the area has a crown.

I'm not sure if this happens for you, but takes 5-10 seconds for the first Yoshi to spawn (according to my experiences). This probably happens because the game still hasn't loaded the characters completely before the event began, or something. Try pausing the game RIGHT as the event begins...
