    I haven't beaten it yet, but I'd say VIII is a good starting point. V is good too actually. Some say it has the best plot in the series.

    The android remakes of V and VI are surprisingly good. In fact, I'd say VI is better on android due to the balance changes. It's his pet, named Munchie. And that's all I can say without spoilers.

    As much as I like IX, the fact of the matter is that VIII and XI are widely considered the best in the DQ franchise to my knowledge. That and XI is a rather recent title.

    I think the reason why IV was picked over V was that the hero of V is always portrayed with a staff rather than a sword, so a skin swap wouldn't work, This was also the case in III.

    I think the issue lies in that the Heroes of VIII and XI are male only. It'd be kinda weird to have a pallate swap for only two of the skins.

    That would also involve porting the Persona Engine to the ARM architecture. Then again, PS3 uses PowerPC while PS4 uses x86-64, so what do I know.

    Even with Persona Q2 just being released, which technically ties Joker to Nintendo, I'm still in shock that this is happening. Then again, SMT did start on the SNES.
