I think I figured it out (no pun intended)! The reason the Amiibo act like they do is entirely due to the boring singleplayer complaint. With Amiibo, you can basically have plastic versions of your friends to fight! Looks like Medusa did join Smash in her own unique way.

It would make more sense for 1v1s, or 1v1v1v1v1v1v1v1, or anywhere in between. This way it's entirely up to your Amiibo. God, Capcom better make a Megaman Battle Network game using these. Best opportunity ever.

OK, I find the Amiibo VERY interesting, (oh, and Nintendo accidentally confirmed more of them being Ness, Charizard, and Ike, during the direct) they really put the original idea from smash 64 in place with them. Also, am I the only one who hopes that when you get all the Amiibo, the announcer...

I still kinda feel like Sakurai was still considering Ridley late into development, and had programmed him in as a fighter for the Direct way back when, and kept it to a silhouette, just in case he didn't find him fit. He didn't find him fit. That, or he didn't fit on an Amiibo figure XD

HOLD IT! I think I found something interesting out... there are different trophies between the 3DS, and Wii U versions, this may not fare well for Ridley, and Bandana Dee, as they were both, to my understanding primarily characters that appeared on consoles. However, Isaac, and Porky both were...

I think I found more evidence, as there is no Porky trophy either, and he DID have connections to Brawl, so for him to be ENTIRELY absent is sort of hard to believe, but, take it as you will.
