I try and play Ryu in a way that controls space, but also denies my opponent the ability to do things. I enjoy Lutilt locks, jab locking with nair, footstools, and most of all, shield breaks. Can someone explain to me why or why not it would be a good idea to fish for shield breaks in neutral...

I think so, I'm not quite sure as to what is holding Ryu back or why people place him so low on tier lists. I barely play smash 4 and I can go toe to toe with the best players in my region with Ryu. Yes it is possible to FA out of the upairs (in my experience), you just need to dash away before the second one comes out. I like to dash in the opposite direction that ZSS is moving in the air, ie: ZSS is moving right to left Ryu dashes right, and vice versa.
