Fire Emblem: The Discussion Thread (keep FE Fates story under spoilertags)

I'm in the midst of a playthrough of FE4 now, and I'll have to echo what everyone else is saying--it's really good, but far different from what you'll be used to. I like the fact that it's so different, and I think any FE fan should give it a shot. The fan translation is a little shoddy, though...

    Most disappointing games?

For me, Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon is the most disappointing. I just can't get much enjoyment playing that game, even though I love the rest of the series. The art style is awful, the story is nonexistent (to be expected, considering it's a remake, but still) and the gameplay is just lacking.

I knew I had to get Raquesis to talk with him, but mine was/is only level 8ish at the time, so she can only take ~2 hits without dying. Basically my strategy was to plomp Lewyn on a forest out of Eldigan's range, let him go nuts for a turn (praying for adept/criticals to one-round a few of the...

Fire Emblem: The Discussion Thread (keep FE Fates story under spoilertags)

Starting on FE4, I hear a lot of people say it's one of the easier ones. But man, maybe it's just going in blind that sucks, but dealing with Eldigan sucked. Took me several tries, and after my first attempt failed I realized I needed to go back about 5 turns to before triggering his arrival...

Fire Emblem: The Discussion Thread (keep FE Fates story under spoilertags)

You get very few PoR characters back in the first part of RD. It's separated into four "parts", and the first one features a mostly new cast. Part 2 has some characters from PoR back, Parts 3 and 4 are more... complicated, let's say, in the interest of avoiding spoilers. Just know that your...

Fire Emblem: The Discussion Thread (keep FE Fates story under spoilertags)

The stories for each game are almost all their own universe, if you will. Awakening is set on the same continent as another FE game, but several thousand years later, so the references are minor. The only XCOM game I've played is Enemy Unknown, and Awakening on normal mode is significantly...

Well, I completed FE6. I have to say, it was pretty good overall. The endgame in general was a little underwhelming, but wrecking dragons with all my full-use divine weapons was humorous, at least. Not much else to say, really. It was a good game with some shortcomings, but it's still Fire...

Shiharam isn't evil like Valter/Calleach/Validar are, though. I dunno, seems a bit too much to me. Him dying period, especially if you bring Jill to the map, is emotional enough. @ANinyMouse : I find chapters 0-1 pretty manageable on Lunatic. I probably rely on Frederick a bit too much...

Oh lord. Well, I'm nice, so I'll link you to this thread now. You might need it. http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=48207&p=3166668 It's a reliable chapter 2 clear on Lunatic+ so it should be good for Lunatic. And Chapter 2 on Lunatic is evil. He lists some requirements, but...

@Ussi : I know it's generally considered the better option, but I just like having Aether on Ike, plus the health recovery is nice. And I'm guessing gamegenie's playing normal or hard mode, which aren't really difficult in the NA/UK versions, so fortunately being optimal isn't necessary. But...

^Make sure you give Ike an occult scroll when you get the chance. You'll want him to have Aether, trust me. I've heard of people also giving him the combo of Resolve + Wrath, but I personally prefer Aether. I'm surprised so few of your units are promoted though, you must be keeping a pretty...

The difficulty is actually okay with me, although a couple of the mechanics feel unnecessary, namely the hit rates and insane throne boosts, which are hell early on. The only chapters where I had more than one-two restarts were Chapters 7 and 14, I think. 7 being when you rescue Zealot (Jerrot...

Fire Emblem: The Discussion Thread (keep FE Fates story under spoilertags)

Well, I ended up starting my Japanese-only FEs with FE6, and it's actually harder than I expected. Partly because I don't know the game as well as the others, and the reinforcements move as soon as they come in. But I am not used to a game where enemies actually use siege tomes consistently, and...

Smash WiiU & 3DS Miiverse Daily Pic - July 22nd

You'd be surprised; if you compare their metacritics, it's close for the most part. The only game Star Fox can't match is Awakening. FE is a couple points higher if you were to compare each series' best game, I'm pretty sure, but it's not a large gap.

    A Belated Introduction

Nice to meet you as well, fellow newbie! :) Ah, a fellow FE fan? Awesome! And yeah, I figured as much. May not have a whole ton of time for games my first year (15 hours a semester sounds painful when going for a 4.0) but when I do, I imagine I'll want to get some friends involved. Chuck...
