Fair utility and usage discussion thread

In my experience, fair can be useful in setting up tail spikes. If you position yourself so when the move ends you’re slightly below your opponent when the move ends, you can immediately up air and get the spike hitbox. Usually do it against foxes who recover low

    Side-B Edgeguard and Reverse Hitboxes

You could be right, but you never know (love the PPMD quote btw). What do you think of the reverse hitbox idea?

    Side-B Edgeguard and Reverse Hitboxes

About a year ago, user chipz posted a thread containing a bunch of gfycats, some for ledge cancelling recovery, and others for just silly stuff. One of these was a gimp setup on fox in which if you used side-b while they were recovering below you, you would stop their momentum entirely, and...

    Pikachu Puff Guide?

I feel like it's Pikachu's hardest matchup sometimes (besides IC's), so any advice would be great, let alone a whole guide.

    Pikachu's up special

Like damncracka said, ledge canceling allows you to slide across without endlag but it's hard to do consistently on certain stages and is really punishable if you mess it up. As for attack purposes, the only thing that I find it useful for is using it after backthrow if my opponent jumps right...

    Pikachu Backward Tail Spike?

So reverse tailspiking is basically the same as a normal one except you get a reverse hit off of it. (Think of falcon's reverse knee). There's a video that Pikachad explains how the move works, but to shorten it, each of the hit boxes have a two frame window, 3-4 is when they get sent straight...

    Edgeguarding spacies questions

Short hop usually, you want to cover the path you think or know that they'll take and try and aim it as far away from ledge as possible. If you do it quick enough and cover the low sweet spot option, then you can cover the high one with f-tilt.

    Applications of down throw?

At higher percents (around 90-120), you can immediately follow up with u-smash on Sheik and Marth. Other than that, for floaties, you can tech chase them a little easier than you could with up throw at low/mid percent.

    Matchup Survey

Pikachu has a hard time approaching Peach and gets punished really hard if you do. I know we have a thread about the matchup, but imo, it sucks a lot as anything you do is crouch canceled into down smash. Don't get me wrong, if you can outplay your opponent, it's possible, but it's just so...

    Matchup Survey

Needs more options. I think the peach and puff matchups are really bad, (20:80 and 25:75 respectively).

    Pikajank gfycats

With the "frisbee dodge" trick, can you avoid all grabs? Or is it like crouching with Puff where it avoids Shiek and Falcon but not spacies?

Pikachu's Shield and Getting Shield Poked

Ok, that makes sense. Could it also depend on the move my opponent is using, like Falco's d-air might needing more coverage towards the top? I see what you mean about making sure my tail isn't an easy target though.

Pikachu's Shield and Getting Shield Poked

Light shield sounds like an interesting option, I'll have to try it. The main things I do oos are up-smash, up-air and grab so I'll see what works and what doesn't.

Pikachu's Shield and Getting Shield Poked

Alright, that makes sense. I'll start covering my top more.

Pikachu's Shield and Getting Shield Poked

So, as most of you probably know, Pikachu's shield is relatively small due to the small character. However, very commonly I run into the problem of getting shield poked very easily by what it seems like random moves being thrown out. What makes even less sense is that usually, my shield is full...
