I would assume it's a technique problem if you're getting blisters. If you can make the change, do less damage to your hands, and not hurt your play, then I 100% advise doing that. I use a bit of each input possible. X, Y, tap, even C-stick to jump. L, R, and very rarely Z to L-cancel, etc.

Learn to use both X and Y to jump. I used to use the control stick to jump -- now I use all three jump inputs variably. It was a great benefit to my game.

I tend to be more inclined with the view that it only takes 1 player to showcase high level potential. If aMSa or Shroomed can hang at the near-top with Yoshi or Doc, then this inevitably means that Yoshi and Doc have all the tools necessary to hang at the near-top.

Falcon's results make him seem like 9th or 10th, but thinking about Falcon makes it hard to place him lower than 8th. I consider him a "borderline high tier" where he seems like he should win, but isn't winning.

Samus (also Sheik) arguably has a better wavedash than Marth, despite not being as long. Samus has the least-laggy type of wavedash, whereas Marth's is somewhat laggy. For practicing, a long wavedash is better because it's easier to distinguish between a good and a great wavedash.

I think this statement is extremely false.

I direct everyone who's practicing wavedashing to practice wavedashing with Ice Climbers. They have the 2nd longest wavedash and the fastest (least-laggy) wavedash.

As Sorrow said, Diddy's combo ability is very variable and dynamic. It's better to just think about the knockback and trajectory of your moves, and then experiment while in game. Experience will give you a decent understanding of what moves will extend combos/strings given whatever properties...
