He has crappy options. Empty jump on the ledge to grab is a mixup you can use if you can bait a shield. Or jab or shield. This is something I have wanted to ask at well. He feels really weak on the ledge

I have always felt that Pika is a good secondary for Ike. If you are having trouble with the speed of other characters than Pika helps.

Does it come out as fast? I might be wrong on this, but you are correct it's safer on shield.

I have gotten people by surprise with it off an empty hop. They get scared of the grab and try to react and you can get them. Like I said, its not supposed to be used alot, but it can be something to get them with the right read since it's pretty quick

I am in the super minority on this, but I kinda like dsmash. Don't use it a hell of alot, but if you get get a read the first hit is kinda fast and you have roll protection with the second hit.

Grabs help alot as people have said. I actually don't like Nair on shield like some of you have suggested, alot of the cast can punish you even if spaced correctly. There are better options than nair in the neutral game, but if you get a read with it then you can get something nice out of it.

Does Ike has ledge trump stuff? Most of it doesn't seem like he doesn't have anything useful. It would really help the ledge game if he had options.

I actually just re-watched Fate/Zero (if you couldn't tell by my avatar and signature haha). I have seen Death Note and Code Geass like 4 times and I have seen Steins;Gate and Full Metal Brotherhood twice. And Toradora also has good re watch value!
