Adding on to Optihus, grabs should mainly be used as pure mixups to mess with your opponents head so they stop feeling safe in shield too. In general our grab game is weak, but remember that grabs beat shields, so it's worth keeping in mind. Grabs also come out a few frames faster than Egg Lay...

I'm pretty sure small stages are superior since they prevent Palutena from getting breathing room. If it works at all like in previous Smash games, you want to tap Down to jab cancel. After you tap down you should be free to do whatever.
