You should probably include a larger section on choosing a partner that's right for you, and some character pairs that work well and why. Like for example I know that as an Ike player in a team match my job is to deliver the final blow. So to balance that out I'd want a partner that is quick...

Does the footstool jump have any priority when spiking? Is is it automatically overridden if your opponent is attacking or recovering?

Ike for me. He's has great range which I think is one of the most important factors in any fighting game. Approach with quick draw, then pull out an u-tilt full a quick surprising combo. Can finish it easily with Aether at certain percentages.

It totally depends on what character you use. Like when I use Ike, I stick to a lot of air moves and then move to ground based stuff when I want to go for the KO. Although when I use Ganondorf almost all my moves are grounded.
