It seems you were half right. I just came across ray mk. II's spirit board battle. Its a battle against the mii gunner with a rocket belt and the ray mk. III costume!

I also saw the CR arena that you said you now have. Nice! Its definitely got a cleaner story than CR:BR, if not a wee bit more repetitive. I like being able to buy parts more than getring them given to you, but it leads to some grinding.

You don't have to evolve ray mk II, so there's probably a way to get it aside from the treasure chest. I'll take a look in a sec edit: I just realized what you wrote, and it seems that Ray Mk. II and Ray Mk. III are "primary spirits" which means they can be equipped by "secondary spirits"...
