Can someone explain to me what these "synchro" cards are and how they work. Or more specifically "Tempest Magician".

Tempest Magician huh. Pretty much when it's summoned, it gets a spell counter. Then once per turn, you can discard cards to add more spell counters onto itself or another card on the field. Number of cards you discard determines the number of spell counters you get to add. You can then activate it's effect to remove all spell counters on the field, and your opponent takes 500 damage for every spell counter removed.

Does that make sense?

edit: wtf Zen? I thought you were banned lol

They go on the Extra Deck (formerly known as Fusion Deck).

Synchros came to change the whole game.... If you want to play again, you should be getting used to them...

Awe that makes sense. I guess you're right. I haven't decided to get any 5d cards until now. I can get used to these, the white cards are pretty bomb.

I wouldn't have anyone to play with ;[
reallly??? why not count me in!!

Outrageous ritual summonning?
Would be like having many Polymerizations but with any monster(s)...

That would be cool, and would make the game a lot more interesting with less Synchro Spam....

Yugioh is an awful TCG which revolves around money, stealing, cheating, and luck based topdecks. Prize support is also nothing compared to that of MTG.

MTG has, and always will be, the greatest TCG to ever exist. I've probably been to more shonen jumps, nationals, or regionals than maybe ever smasher combined. Trust me when I say yugioh is bad.

The MTG community is also not nearly as stuck up as the yugioh community. Try going to a shonen jump, and see how many pretentious little ****heads try and come off as if their **** doesn't stink.

Then you have the top players. A majority of top players indeed stack cards like you wouldn't believe. it's sad. it's also very annoying. Ever heard of Adam Corn? Emon? John Labounty? (insert OD member here)? In fact, any consecutive SJC is generally a stacker. Adam corn being the biggest. I vowed to never play again until he was banned for life. Then Konami came in and took over. Personally, they're doing an awful job if you ask me. The format will never be as good as it was from 2005-2007.

And the worst part is that Konami doesn't even ban anybody. They just DQ them. Which is why players like Peter Cheng are able to get away with winning a jump, even though they open with broken hands every match of the tournament. I wonder why.

I can tell you everything about this game competitively. It's a waste of time.

TL;DR - Yugioh is an awful excuse of a game, MTG is super amazing. **** TCG games and play Poker.

Obvious troll is obvious... I just won't discuss.

Many TCGs have elements of Magic the Gathering, including YuGiOh.
Anyways, I don't know NOTHING about the competitive scene, I don't care
I don't even buy any card/boost/deck at all!

I just play the game because I like it.

I only play the old game. Me and my gf/friends buy the old cards and duel XD. We also used banned cards, with the exception of no god cards/Blue eyes shining dragon (that's against me)

Maybe I'm ignorant, but the new cards seem dumb, and I like the old series <3

People really reminisce about the old days. I did too, until I found out how much more strategy was implemented into the game (albeit Konami showing favoritism). I like to play advanced format because for me just throwing down one card (Raigeki and Harpie's) and winning because of that seems extremely broken and unfair. I like seeing strategy unfold and seeing a well earned victory.

Zombies with some prohibited cards would be amazing....
(Painful Choice, many reviving cards, and most importantly: Card of Safe Return. With only CoSR, Zombies would pwn).

I preordered a box of gold series 3. can't wait!
Ha ha. 2 days. There's some really good cards in there. I can't wait for them cause most of them are going to shoot down in price. Lol.

Zombies were still good even with those cards banned. Burial Zombies were good before the new banned list destroyed them.

So, what decks do you guys think are top tier at the moment?

In my opinion:

- Infernities.
- Synchro Cat.
- Quickdraw Dandywarrior.
- Blackwings.
- Gadgets/Machinas.

I got 2 Prismas and a Plaguespreader about two months ago. Shoot me.

From what the two recent YCS have shown Infernities and X-Sabers are on top, with Gladiator Beasts, Frog Monarchs, Herald, and Machina Gadgets following closely. Quickdraw Dandywarrior, Synchro Cat, and Blackwings are also very viable.

It is a very diverse format, one of the best in some time in my opinion.

I didn't like anything in GS3 besides Armor Master and Armed Wing tbh.

Maybe Prisma and Plague.

Hmmm...
I am a deck builder, I rarely play and if I do it is with budget decks.
I watch YGO:TAS...
I used to watch the anime, but then I got sick of it. I still like the original Bandai one though...
I play OCG and am subscribed to the Youtube channel BBlueFukuoka.
I have an account on Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Player and frequently check it.

I'll post a list of the decks I have made, ask if you want to see any:
Alector STUN
Alien Prohibition
Disciple City
Ice STUN
Insect Skill Drain
Prohibition STUN
Arcana Force
Destiny Board
Big City
Exodia FTK
Gradius
Monarch
Dragonsworn
Gladsworn Synchro Cat (Worked in the Cat format, but doesn't really work now cause of the banlist).
Hopeless Dark
Meta Cat
Sparksworn
Yubelsworn
Zombie Monarchs
Clown Control
Fiend
Genex
Necro Creator
Spirit
Twister Monarchs
Big Bang Abuse
Black Knight Dark
Chaos Ritual
Chocolate Milk
Dark Horus
Dark Ritual
Empty Jar
Fifth Gadget Chimeratech
Glad Burn
Kuraz Turbo
Machine Union
Phantom Skyblaster
Shapesnatch OTK
Water Control
Zombie Hand Control
Dekoichi Synchro
Level Stealer
Mokey Mokey Synchro
Ojama Synchro
Quickdraw Dandylion

I take requests if anyone is interested! I specialise in Anti-Meta, Hybrids, Revisitng Old Archetypes/Decktypes and working off ideas.

I would play if I had the money, but quite frankly, I'd rather spend any money I have on more important things. I proxy my decks to test them.

So i bought a 3-pack box of absolute powerforce cards for nostalgic purposes yesterday,

and in the third pack i pulled a Majestic red dragon. O_O was that extremely lucky or just meh?
cause i know since the GX era they like to give you the "it" card but nothing to actually use it...

As i thaught, not even a "Deck builder" can do something useful using a Curran/Pikeru base....

Haha, assuming it is real, you are a few months late. Crush Card Virus was one of the most expensive cards, then it got banned.

I could give it a shot, the thought never crossed my mind.

I'll start working on it and post the finished product here :p

Well, when I begun with that, I had a deck with only 2000+ DEF monsters, then someone destroyed me with a Curran... That was silly, and I still can't forgive Curran so badly that I want to make a deck about her!!!!
And I loved Pikeru when I first saw her.

Current ideas I'm working for a non-high competition panorama (aka for the lulz):
-A Hiita Deck, with "Hiita the Fire Charmer", "Familiar Posessed Hiita", "DNA Translant" and tons of gain control/quick summon stuff as base. Basically, an offensive fire deck. ("I'll Synchro Summon my FP-Hiita!! bwahahahaha!!")
-A Life Plus Gain Deck with Prime Material Dragon. Tons self-damaging cards (like Dark Snake Syndrome, Granadora, Aegis of Gaia and Immortal of the Thunder). It has also tons of continous trap cards in order to use the secret triumph card: Uria, Lord of the Searing Flames.

They're currently just ideas. If anyone can give me an advise, please tell me.

With the Hiita deck, I would suggest using Flamvell cat as a base and teching in Hiita + support.
With the life gain, I recommend against Uria because of being an instant -2 upon summoning, being a dead draw in most cases, and being easy to destroy in general. Snake Syndrome would increase your opponent's LP as well remember. The deck would need a win condition after gaining the life points, and remember that your whole strategy is screwed if Prime Material Dragon gets destroyed. I would recommend using the general concept of Hopeless Dragon and then mixing it with the whole PMD engine.

Hope I helped :p

The Hiita one, well, it's hard to get with it anyways, I'll try that.

For the life one, I forgot to mention that one of the continous traps was "Dark Reaction to Simochi" in order to support the Dark Snake Syndrome...
Also, my "win condition" is the power backups, such as Guardian Angel Joanne, Uria and PMD itself.
btw, what's that "hopeless dragon" thing? lol

And yes, this does help a lot.

Hopeless Dragon is currently the best dragon build you can get.
It revolves around using the card "Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon" to swarm the field with beatstick dragons.

http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Hopeless_Dragon

It's pretty much a mix of Dark decks and Dragon decks.

The problem with using multiple continuous traps is that there is A LOT of spell & trap destruction around. X-Sabers, Blackwings, Flamvell, Infernity, etc... all have support cards to do it and there is also MST, Heavy Storm, Giant Trunade, etc...

Life Gain and stall decks in general haven't really worked properly for a few formats.

Imperial Custom.

(and I think I have already mentioned every continous trap I had in mind for this deck...)
