Your thoughts on a "Jedi" character?

I have been thinking about how cool it would be to have like a "Jedi Knight" or some form of jedi in Brawl. It could be a b**** and half getting the OK from Lucas and his Corporation to have a Star Wars character in a game such as Brawl but well worth it.

the character would have some force moves and be the best ranged character or something of that sort. there wouldn't be a name such as Luke or Obi Wan, just "Jedi Knight." just an idea, maybe has already been kicked around here on these boards. so please leave some thoughts!

The funky thing is that it's not even completely impossible considering that there were probably Jedi knights created entirely for use in video games.

Well, not "completely" impossible.... it's still not going to happen. No dice. Sorry.

My first thought is that this is on the wrong board. Try character discussion.

My second thought is that Fawriel and Zero Suit Falcon (ewww, what a name) are correct. A Jedi Knight would be quite the WTF character.

Did a Jedi Knight actually even appear on any Nintendo console? There was "Rogue Leader" but that was entirely spaceships iirc.

Well, Force Unleashed will be released for Wii, so Vader's Apprentice actually has a chance. They said the character had to have originated in a video game, but they never said the franchise had to have started as a video game.

Isaac from the Golden Sun games is essentially a medieval jedi. He has a sword and telekinesis. He can even attack with lightning if he's a certain class. Give him a beam saber and you're as close to a jedi as you can get without said jedi also being an anthropomorphic, psychic, genetically modified, 6-foot-tall cat.

I really don't want to see an actual Jedi though. SSB should only have characters and franchises that originated from video games (e.g. no Vader's apprentice, no Ash Ketchum, etc).

A jedi would work very nicely in the system. Think of Mewtwo's (or Ness's) grabs mixed with Marth's flow or agility..

Of course any Star Wars character popular enough to get in has a chance because we all know that they all first starred in video games, prior to their movies. Yes, even Vader.

I was actually thinking about this a week ago. I almost made a topic, but I didn't think it would get a good response. Yeah, Vader's Apprentice would be an awesome WTF character. He did originate in a videogame, so it is posible. Him being mainly relient on the Force would open the door for some awesome special and smash moves. I'll probably make a moveset here in a second.

Foward Smash: Slight damage, insane knockback.
Down Smash: Larger attack distance, slight damage, decent knockback.
Up Smash: Large distance, more powerful the closer it is. Damage when close range, none when far.
B Neutral: Force Lightning. Fires lightning that steadily decreases in strength and distance.
B Up: Force Jump. Shoots Force below him to push him forward. Not very high, but it spikes enimies downwards.
B down: Jedi Reflexes. Blocks any projectile in front of him and bounces it back with his Lightsaber.
B Side: Saber Toss. If it hits a wall it acts like a tether recovery.

On a side note, his taunts could involve the Jedi mind tricks. That would own.

ok, i am going to put this as nice as i can

i really really really...hate starwars, and would cry if anyform of starwars for of character was in it, not offence to ANYONE whatsoever, it is my opinion, keep that in mind, but IF one was to make it in i assume a moveset would be possible, i am fine with an AT, pc, just would make me breakdown, tho, like is mastercheif was in, i would cancil my preorder, lol

Jedi have been in Nintendo

NES - Star Wars, Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars Return of Jedi
SNES - same as NES just better
Gamecube - Lego Star Wars, Star Wars III
DS - Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds I and II

I know there is more, that is just what I have off the top of my head.

However, there won't be one in brawl. (It would be a great marketing advanage for Nintendo though)

Actually Kyle Katarn started on Star Wars Dark Forces and has since appeared in Dark Forces II: Jedi Knights, Jedi Knights II, and appeared in many many novels. Lucas considers him a part of Star Wars cannon.

Therefore there is a popular Star Wars character that first appeared in a video game.

Not to mention some of the characters introduced in Star Wars epsiodes I-III where vidoe game characters or novel characters that fans wanted later in the newer films.

i shouldn't say Brawl entirely, maybe in a future Smash Brothers game.
There isn't going to be another SSB game, Brawl is the last installment, check it out anywhere u want- search it on wikipedia, google or any other search engine

A jedi character could NEVER be in the game, and i don't even want to be mean but see what u make me do!

Imagine in SSE, what are they going to come out of the sky to face fox in his arwing or battleship halberd, no way dude

It's great to have a good imagination, but don't get carried away!!!

among the figments of your imagination
Not going to happen.

This is the only way you might be able to get around this:

A: Jedi character must originate in a video game. Not a novel or film or comic book. (ex: Darth Revan, Kyle Katarn)
B: Jedi character must be featured on a Nintendo brand console, not necessarily originate on it.
C: Jedi character must be popular enough to be recognized by a wide variety of individuals.

to my knowledge, no such character exists, therefore no Jedi will be in Brawl.

Er, not only would it go against Smash's grain, it would be impossible. A generic Jedi wouldn't represent Star Wars, and Star Wars doesn't need representation.

Much as I like Star Wars, I don't think it should happen. SSB is about video game characters, and Star Wars is not anywhere near primarily a video game saga.

Under technicalities, it could happen. Off the top of my head the biggest-name Jedi to start on a video game who has been on a Nintendo console is Kyle Katarn (first appeared in Star Wars: Dark Forces, a computer and Playstation game, has since moved into a big role in other games and the Expanded Universe novels, including becoming a Jedi Master and a member of Luke's Jedi Council in recent books). There have probably been some Star Wars games with a generic Jedi star on a Nintendo system at some point too, though I'm not interested enough to do the research right now. So either Katarn or a generic Jedi could in theory be a third-party character in Brawl or a future SSB game.

I truly doubt it would happen though, given the utter lack of demand for it, and as I said I'd be against it in spite of being a big Star Wars fan. I'd put the odds of it occurring somewhere around the odds of Cloud Strife making it into Brawl on the technicality of his appearance in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. Only even less likely.
