this is so dumb, about trying every character and seeing wich one fits your paly style, this is going to be super smash brother brawl, not some fighting game with its own characters, one of the main points of this game is the fact that you can choose characters you already like, in melee i used to play as Marth, till i realised that was stupid. even tho i liked playing as him somewhat i didnt like him as a character at all; infact i disliked him.

even tho gimpyfish says don't do what he did, hes right in some way, you cant be totally close minded about your character, sure im going to choose characters other than meta knight but i will mainly play as him because when i saw him in kirby super star i thought he was totally badass.

so you have to find a balance of a character you like and fits your playstyle, unless you are someone who plays this game just for its fighting engine and if you are it shouldnt matter to you what characters are announced.

do you think its more important to play as the character? or play as the character for their moves?

for me:
70% character
30% moves

sure bowser and mewtwo were cool in melee, but not cool enough to over shadow the fact that i just didnt find their style to fit mine.

also please orient this towards SSBB not SSBM; this is why i posted it in brawl disc.

I really don't think he is posing a good question to be honest. He's basically trying to push some kind of character morality and looking for supporters. It's pretty lame IMO. People should just play who they want for whatever reason they should without somebody getting on a soap box telling them they are wrong cause they aren't some kind of character fanboy.

i like ikes moveset i love ranger critical
and i think ike is a bada** character even though hes slow now he might get buffs but even if he doesnt ill still main him competitivly

Well... first off, next time, please use spell check, or at least try to spell things remotely correctly without chatspeaking. As for your question, I'm the opposite. I can't really think of any character that I just won't play as for disliking him/her. I didn't hate anyone in Melee, so I don't think I'll hate anyone in Brawl. My character selection is close to 85% moveset and 15% character.

I personally go 50-50. I'm a Ganon main now, I like Ganon. His moves could've been better, but they're good enough. I used to be a Shiek main, I actually didn't like the character at all, so I quit.

I dunno how it'll be for Brawl. I might change it.

even though kirby was a low tier on melee i played with him anyways, still I beat my friends. ill probably main him and shiek(if she makes it) if not i have to go with the easy controlled metaknight because he was badass first time i played kirby super star.

For people who just want to beat others, then they will pick whichever character they kick butt best with. Some people have no idea who a lot of the characters are or what games they represent. If people only picked characters they already liked (in Melee for example), then no one would be playing with the Ice Climbers, hm? Or Pit (cuz I don't think there are too many Kid Icarus fans). Also, if the character you like just doesn't suit your playing style, then why not pick someone else that will help you play better? It's not like you're suddenly not a fan of the character. I like Yoshi and all, but I'm not too big a fan of his moves.

in SSBB, I'll prefer Ike, but another character may be my main.. who knows?

I hope ROY will be in Brawl, though he's less likely than Marth, who I'm better with..

In Melee I played mostly as Luigi, DK, Mario, Fox, Falco and Mewtwo, because I like those characters... I didn't really like Fox or Falco as much as the others though.

I plan doing the same in Brawl. I'll play as everyone every now and then, but mostly play the characters I like.


But yeah, you shoudn't force anyone to use a character just because the like him. Let everyone decide by themself.
