x360 controllers (or other controllers)

well i looked a bit into nintendon't and i read it will provide X360-Controller support

the thing is i played around with a 360 controller on Dolphin and realized that im really comfortable with it.

so question is how TOs and other people see the legality with this, especially since people kind of force people to play on Wii U's and maybe there are limited setups available. Also it would be interesting how hard it would be to make a 360 Controller an actual functioning GC controller and if people find this legitimate

i see no problem with using whatever controller that you want, even on the gamecube. as long as you cant use turbo or assign button combos to a single button.

Rules are, to the best of my recollection, that anything that works, does not allow for otherwise impossible inputs (eg. up and down on any stick simultaneously) and has neither turbo nor combo features is legal.
Personally, I would be sceptical of the Wii-U only limitation but, were you to make it function as a proper gamecube controller, I would have no issues with it.

and there i got the problem, what if there are like 50% Wii U setups and people all of the sudden (its not that realistic but just an what if thing) start using 360 controllers and the rules clarify if you have to play on setup 5 you cant change it (i think it was the m2k rule)

If everyone isn't forced to use the same controller, the only regulation should be that the controller have no macros; in other words, it should have a 1:1 button-input ratio. Other than that, any USB controller would be fine (including "fight sticks" and keyboard).

IIRC certain fight sticks were ruled against because they had N64 style C buttons, allowing for two Cs to be pressed simultaneously, an input not possible on the default controller. Keyboards would be banned for similar reasons.

When did this happen? I've never seen anyone be turned away for using any kind of controller.

As far as I know there's never been an incident in modern smash history where somebody using a different controller won a match because of special input options. Most people who'd try to do such a thing can't win normally anyway.

To the OP:
Pretty much any controller is fine if you can play with it. I don't think we as a community should turn people away for thinking outside of the box.

Honestly I'd like to see someone play with a macro controller in tourney, I doubt it would really offer any bonus other than a superficial improvement in tech skill.

It was a thread on here a couple years back, I don't have links but everyone seemed in favour of the controller up until mods and tournament organisers joined in discussion and shared their disagreement with the impossible input thing.

Also, macro controllers suck. They break far too easily.

I DONT think you should be allowed to use any kind of controller. That's my opinion on it though!

Mind explaining why? I agree with the consensus. Makes perfect sense for people to use what they're more comfortable with, as long as they have no competitive edge with it.
