If Youtube had a premium service would you pay for it? And if so, what should be included and what should the pricing be?

I've been thinking lately that with the amount I use youtube I'd probably be fine paying 10-20$ a year to avoid ads. The thing is that's not much of a premium service so I thought maybe some of the youtube partners could contribute to the cause and make premium exclusive content every once in a while, etc.

This site has a premium service, many people pay for it, what if youtube had a similar service and what would you want from it?

Edit:(since a few people are missing the point)
I'm asking, hypothetically, would a premium service be a good idea and would you want it/what do you want from it. Not should we have to pay to use the site in general, or if youtube would be so generous as to take my money so I don't have to sit through a 13 second movie trailer. That's would just be the beginning, things like exclusive content, streaming of live events, and more is what I'm thinking of.

You can already "pay" for youtube. Not really what you mean but you can "rent" some "movies" off of youtube. You pay by the hour.

Also you can already get around ads before videos. I haven't seen an ad before a Youtube video is a looooong time.

Well ads don't have to be the only thing included in the service. You can pay for those movies, but for that matter there's torrents and torrents are HD, don't stream, and can be put onto my PS3.

Is there anything else that would make a premium service worthwhile for you guys?

I can't really see any reason I'd want to pay to use YouTube. It serves its function as good as it can.

It blocks all adverts. For free.
It doesn't block Hulu's ads, but I digress.

jolly old england. hohoho.
I use youtube so much, I probably should pay for it. But I still wouldn't.

I'm doubt a "premium" service would provide anything I need and if they limit basic functions I'll just find a new website to listen to music.

I've realised that I don't really use youtube that much, it's something I could easily do without. Yeah I'd miss out on things, but it's not that big a loss.

TBH, The only thing I watch on Youtube are clips from shows occasionally and Minecraft videos

I can you tell you right now, neither are worth paying for

Ads don't annoy me all that much, and no I wouldn't give money to YouTube.

Outside of the occasional "hey, check this funny video" all I really use it for 'regularly' is DBZ Abridged.

Wow I really need to watch more Abridged.

How many episodes do they have now?

I remember I got up to 8 or so before there weren't any more.

I wouldn't pay for YT premium, unless it gave you some seriously good stuff for your money.

lol, never. Ads are taken care of by adBlock and adBlock Plus (blocks in video ads on YT, Blip and maybe others), and aside from that YT already has pretty amazing service. (well except their strict copyright policy but premium membership wont get around that)

If youtube goes pay to use, another website will likely crop up that is free. Internet dwellers will migrate. Other people that want premium content will use providers with a more established system, like Hulu and Netflix.

Then I just wouldn't watch them and find a free alternative like every person who has a brain that uses the internet does.

It depends. I wouldn't buy it at all but if it takes away features I like such as commenting, liking, favoring, uploading, and subscribing to folks, I'd get mad and leave YouTube.

Would I pay for YouTube? Nope.

Do I want it to stay free? Yes!!!

Do ads annoy me? Well, I never see them even though I never adblock because my browser is set to do it automatically. :D

Unless I had a successful channel, then no, I would not contribute any money to watch some tutorials or listen to songs, whelp, not gonna jinx the free service now.

I'm not asking if you would pay to end ads on youtube, ads generate more revenue than a membership ever could. i'm asking if you would pay for a premium service and what you would want from that service. I want us to generate ideas and such and from there if it would be worth it. youtube has already put movies you can pay for but they suck, have terrible quality, and are more expensive than just subscribing to netflix or hulu.

Ads are one thing, think about having live events like concerts streaming, exclusive content from certain partners, perhaps youtube generated content like shows made by the company for premium service users with things like interviews or news info on events like CES or E3. This may not seem appealing to you, for others it might.

I'm asking, hypothetically, would a premium service be a good idea and would you want it/what do you want from it. Not should we have to pay to use the site in general, I obviously don't want to lose somehting that's free for no reason. This site has a premium service, many people pay for it, what if youtube had a similar service and what would you want from it?

Though everyone said they wouldn't pay for a premium service in the first place, so there's nothing it could bring. News on events isn't going to work as this is the internet and nothing stays exclusive for long.

E3 and CES already have free streams and videos by pretty much everyone attending or hosting it.

If Youtube ever started to charge for their services, even optionally, they would be yanked for violating copyright laws pretty quickly.
