Would everyone hate Pokémon trainer returning if his brawl flaws stayed?

I'd still main them because I'm a crazy loyalist, but I think most people who aren't as insane as me would have gone on to better characters.
Pokemon Trainer is already a character who demands a lot of its players if you want to master them. Having to deal with annoying mechanics like stamina would probably chase a lot of players off, especially if PT became a lot tier because of it like in Brawl.
