No Internet?!?
I unlocked Mewtwo by playing the time out...it really wasn't that bad. Besides, I'm guessing that most characters are unlocked through the Subspace Emissary. Just a guess though of course.
You can earn most characters by playing through Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary. For those of you who look forward to those encounters, I recommend you clear this mode before playing Basic Brawl.

But anyway people, stop thinking that you "probably won't have to unlock a Character like that again, he's already said that most Characters are unlocked during the SE.."

Yes that's right, most Characters. Not all of them.

o.O;

I played through the eight hundred matches and unlocked Mewtwo by accident. No lie. It sucked not being privvy to the Internet.

At any rate, I scheduled two days off of work for this **** game (Brawl). You bet your *** I'll be pulling an all-nighter with my Wii.

Now after I think about it. Japan gets Brawl earlier, so we'll know if we need to leave it on 20 hour for Mewtwo or any other characters.

The fake OC, because I'm nothing like them.
WTF, Because one time i was playing on my N64 and after 2 hours, the dam game froze up.
Yeah, December 16th, 2005. I left it on because I had to fight with my mom. I went to bed that night and totally forgot about it until about Christmastime 2006 because I wanted to play some DK Country, which is, ironically, what was in there for over a year.

Wow. No way that can be true.

You're telling me from Dec 16th,2005, all the way until Dec 25th, 2006, You forgot all about having the Snes on?

It would of over-heated, or the electric bill would of been nuts insane. Or, it could of just died a week after being left on.

Was the system still on..? No way:ohwell:

Anyway, the only thing Im afraid of is leaving a console on for too long would run up the electricity bill. The most I have a console on for is 6 hours. I actually know some people who don't turn their computer off at all. My god.

I only turn my computer off when it tells me to restart, or if I am leaving for a few days.

And the Wii is probably in better condition while it's in STANDBY ("off") rather than on. Why? Because when the Wii goes into standby, the fan goes off so it is silent, but the processor is still running on low. At least while the Wii is on, the fan is cooling it. As quiet as the Wii is, I think it was a poor move on Nintendo's part, but either way, it can easily take a few days being left on, without a doubt.

And I doubt he would have us unlock a character that way again, but I guess we will find out in about a month.

Funny story... In my strategy guide, it said that you could unlock Mewtwo by either 20 hours of 1-P mode, or 2-P mode (along with the 800 battles thing). I decided to do the 20 hours in one player mode, and didn't unlock anything... I then had to do the 20 hours in versus mode.

I can't believe people were actually complaining about having to play Melee. It was one of the greatest games ever, and I've probably racked up a hundred hours playing it throughout my life. Hopefully Brawl will offer even more playtime.

I always leave my computer on all the time, and just put it on Sleep. Although it is slow at times, and I restart it occasionally and turn it off if I'm going away for a while.

And I actually PLAYED Melee to unlock Mewtwo, and when I saw the "WARNING," I nearly crapped in my pants.

I let bots play each other for the 20 hours in segments of 99 min.
On second though, I think it would have been easier to just put a stock match on with unlimited time.
Wow... I wasn't very bright.

I don't mind if Sakurai includes a character like that, its his prerogative. SamuraiPanda's theoracy seems like a better alternative though. Either way, so long as I know how to unlock them before the game comes out.

You know wht sucked balls...having to leave your Gamecube on all night just to un-lock Mewtwo. I commend all the one of you that actually played 800 VS matches, or actually played those 20 hours. Luckily, the GCN was a durable system that could sustain being left turned on for that period of time. The Wii on the other hand...

Please Sakurai...don't make us un-lock ANYONE in Brawl using that type of method ever again...EVER!

LOL I was one of the people that played 700 Vs. matches to unlock him. it felt really good when I finally did lol.

The second time however, it hit me that I could do a stock match and leave my gamecube on all night.. It sucked to learn that after doing 700 matches the first time =(

Ya... I just did it in 2.5 hours...

Lightning Melee, with 4 humans. :p

If I remember correctly... it was only 2.5 hours... but it might have still been 5 hours, I can't remember exactly...

Also, the Wii could definitely handle it, but I don't expect Sakurai to do that again. :p I believe what he expected was that people would just unlock him overtime... but ya... I guess most of us are just too impatient that way... that's okay though.

One time I left my SNES on for over a year, it makes no noise, and I had totally forgotten about it.

It still works.
That's pretty awesome... but you didn't have a single power outage in the entire year....?

Anyway, the only thing Im afraid of is leaving a console on for too long would run up the electricity bill. The most I have a console on for is 6 hours. I actually know some people who don't turn their computer off at all. My god.
In all honesty, that probably wouldn't bring up the electricity bill at all. Gaming systems really take next to no power, same with computers (assuming they're in sleep mode when unused)... it's really just appliances and such with moving parts, and heating parts that take up the electricity, that's why your dryer, which rotates, and heats, will be the majority on your bill.

You know what would suck worse?

If you did 700 vs matches, and lost to him.
Luckily, I believe that you can loose to him, and then play another match, and he'll challenge you again. Otherwise, that would really suck... :urg:

Once you meet the requirement, he'll continually challenge you, provided you're playing a regular Vs match (not a special melee).

And I unlocked everything in one day...we got Melee and had an epic multiplayer fest...We discovered we had 16 'Hours' of play...then decided to do a 1 Hour 4P time match on Big Blue.

That was insane. :dizzy:

Slightly off-topic. What happens if you lose to Mewtwo? another 20 hours? haha that would suck. on that note, does anyone know what happens if you lose on any of the "Challenger Approaching!" battles?

edit: lol the post above me answers this.
