Actually, the way the Wii works now, it system goes into sleep mode after a little while of no activity, so they could put an unlockable character like this is Brawl... and you'd have to play those hours and not cheat! Bahahahaha! Suckers!
...

We could use the Gamecube controllers...

cheating FTW? No way I'm waiting 20 hours to unlock a character.

I actually mentioned that a page ago. lol.

But yeah, the Wii's durable. I've left mine on all day from laziness of not finding a save point for Metroid Prime 3, and it was okay. Sure it could last for another "Mewtwo" unlock.

I kind of cheated with Mewtwo, as well. I didn't leave my GCN on for 20 hours though, just overnight. My friends and I already had about half that (10 hours) after the first couple of days of owning it.

But if that's the case with Brawl and any timely unlockables, Sakurai's in for a bitter surprise because I will most def. be playing this game for days straight.

Wherever McFox tells me I am.
Their are plenty of ways to get around this, rather easily. Pluvia gave a good example, or you could use the fan thing. Or you could select Lucas, and just tape down your B button, thus causing PK Snow (?) to happen all the time, but no stocks to be lost, the Wiimote staying connected, and having the game continue as long as you leave it on.

Well bottom line, it is possible for this type of unlockable to come back for Brawl; however, Sakurai did say that most character unlocks would occur during SE. I do not think we will see this type of unlock again, but no one is able to say one way or the other.

I did the 800 matches too!

And like I said above, 3 months ago, I got the "I never thought you would manage to see this" bonus for playing 1,000,000 matches...

Your a hard-core smasher like me ^_^

I never had a problem unlocking Mewtwo for one reason. I didn't know he was in the game so after I played 20 hours I fought him and unlocked him. Without knowing what to do.

Now that i read this, i don't remember how i got Mewtwo...

Was it possible to do the 800 matches playing 800 super sudden deaths? Because that's how i think i did it. but maybe i'm wrong. Still, i'm pretty sure i did the 800 matches with some kind of modification to make each one super-quick... I did like 100 matches, let the GC rest for some hours, then 100 more, and so on. I think it was less than 20 hours total.

I remember how I unlocked Mewtwo.

It was way back, and me and Lesley-Ann were just playing a match. When it ended, "WARNING! Challenger Approaching!" suddenly appeared on the screen, with that warning music and the black silhouette.

Lesley-Ann gasped and went "Ohmygod!", and I sat there for a sec, excited, then pressed the Start button and defeated him with Link.

So I'm unsure what I did exactly. It could've been 800 Vs mode matches, or it could've been 20 hours.

I don't think you could to super sudden death mode, but you could have had handicap all the way down with Damage Ratio at 2.0 with 1 stock... that would work pretty quickly.

You know wht sucked balls...having to leave your Gamecube on all night just to un-lock Mewtwo. I commend all the one of you that actually played 800 VS matches, or actually played those 20 hours. Luckily, the GCN was a durable system that could sustain being left turned on for that period of time. The Wii on the other hand...

Please Sakurai...don't make us un-lock ANYONE in Brawl using that type of method ever again...EVER!

*reads something about "pulling", "wii", "all night", "sucked balls"....*

I'm not sure I want to know what's going on here

Um...I don't remember having to leave my gamecube on all night, I just played as usual and mewtwo appeared. I think the wii can be left on all night, that's how you get updates from nintendo while you sleep. (That's what nintendo say anyway)

Sakurai said most characters will be umlocked by subspace emmisary so i doubt that we'll ever have to do that again.

I don't see the problem. I got about 250 hours on Melee on my Gamecube memory card, whats 20 hours compared to that. I got only got 3000 matches, but thats because I used to play loads of endless matches that can be stopped by resetting on the pause screen.

If Mewtwo is in the game (unless he's replaced by Lucario, he will be), he'll most likely be one of the Pokemon bosses (unless Rayquaza is seemingly the only one), and therefore can be unlocked as such. Although, Snake seems likely to be a time unlock, since he's a 3rd Party, and usually "special characters" are unlocked last (like how bosses in arcade fighters are the last ones to be unlocked via time release.

Why on earth would Mewtwo be replaced..? A completely unique Character, and highly popular Pokemon.

And I'm not sure that a third party would be unlocked last. Maybe they would be, but I'm not to sure on that one.

Yea, we all have wlel over 20 hours now, but at the time, we wanted Mewtwo ASAP, and wanted to have him unlocked in the quickest fashion.

I unlocked Mewtwo for reals.

My Wii will pull a Brawl all-nighter whether it likes it or not. But not on it's own... I'll be there with it every second.

I unlocked Mewtwo by playing the time out...it really wasn't that bad. Besides, I'm guessing that most characters are unlocked through the Subspace Emissary. Just a guess though of course.

But even if we do have to play a certain amount of matches or for a certain amount of time... what's the problem with that?
