Everyone is excited and pumped for the much anticapated Smash Brothers: Brawl! but is the game REALLY GOING TO BE T H A T GOOD? We all have such expectations for the game and it is rumored to not have wavedashing and all of that good stuff that we liked about melee. I personally do think that the characters and levels will be better..but the gameplay will not be as fast.... I heard it runs completely different and is totally different feel to the game. Nintendo has also been hyping this game up EXTREMELY be releasing these tease-like updates on www.smashbros.com Half ofthe updates are stupid and info we knew from square one. "The game is two player!!!" "you can do team play!" "How to use tilts!" "Bowser is a playable character" "Samus' final smash is zero!!!" They are all a waste of time...

In terms of levels all the new ones look dumb but its cool they are doing the classic thing again.

Yes, it will be.

Um, am i the only person glad there won't be any wavedashing?

Fox will be nerfed, which should be better balance-wise.

I want the gameplay to feel diffrent, so it feels like a diffrent game, not Melee 2.0

There will be people who enjoy it and there will be people that will actively find fault with it out of spite. Game evaluation is all about personal opinion, so it'll be hard to get an unbiased opinion unless Nintendo completely screws up.

The biggest thing for me is the new Adventure Mode, if they do it well I will be pleased.

And having no wavedashing is a terrible thing to even bring up, lol.

Having no WaveDashing is a GOOD THING.
Tons of people, heck, the majority, hate the idea of wave dashing, because its an unnatural method of play.

Slower paced battles? I think not. With speedy characters like sonic, and seemingly overhauled balancing of characters, we can expect GREAT variety in match-ups. Besides, we still have wave landing and L canceling, and wavedashing may be very possible once we start messing with the game's mechanics.

Team play in all those things that were previously one player was a surprise, and a pleasant one at that, to me. Now I can have little bro do more than gawk at my playing, and if he doesn't get in my way, it'll be cool.

The site is aimed at those that are not much into SSB series, or are new to it, wishing to draw them in by showing them tidbits of things from their favorite Nintendo franchise.

Brawl will be excellent, and Melee will start to look like SSB64 does right now.

If all else fails, we suck it up and go back to Melee.

Brawl is Jesus

For all you Melee-heads, stick to Melee or shut the hell up. Once the game comes out, those who fail to accept it will be a sad minority.

I think it's going to be very difficult not to love Brawl considering all the work, time, and money that is being thrown on this game. How big of a development team did they have again?

Waaahhhhhh! Wahhhhhhhh! I want wavedashing! Wahhhhhhhhh!

Really, as said by other posters, if you want wave dashing and other cheap methods of play, stick to Melee. I want a fairly new experience that is a bit familiar. Brawl looks to be just that!

Nicely said.

I think Brawl will be awesome and live up to most expectations. I think even the petty updates gets the hype up and will do very well for most of us. Can't wait...

There is already a thread like this , but we need to stop asking this question because we already know the answer.
Brawl definitely WON'T disappoint devoted Smash fans who have been playing Smash since the first one or who even started with Melee. If you love Smash Bros no matter what, then we have already seen that Brawl is a dream come true.
Brawl WILL definitely disappoint those looking forward to a Melee 2.0. So there's no wavedashing. OK? In time we'll develop an all new set of advanced techniques and Brawl may end up more competitive than Melee. Remember, the developers of Brawl are hardcore Melee fans themselves. When he Dojo first went up, Sakurai said that the developers had played a "terrible" number of versus matches, over 10,000 actually. They know what Smash fans want, both casual and competitive.
Let's just be optimistic here.

Figures someone so naive would call players newbies just because they couldn't win a fight without wavedashing. You know, some people probably don't wavedash because it's a cheap strategy and not because they cannot do it. It's just like snaking in Mario Kart, it totally ruins the feel of the game.

Hmmmm. When I joined this site last year I didn't go around saying non-sense like that. Snaking =/= WDing. But you wouldn't know that because you're new.

You can't win without snaking against snakers but you can win without wavedashing against wavedashers. Shows how much you know.

@ The Canuck.

Please don't start that kind of argument in a thread like this. We can debate the "cheapness" of wavedashing till kingdom come, but nothing will change.

Pros will always use it.
Scrubs will always whine about it.

I agree with you 100% maybe more... I dont care if wavedashing is in or not, it really isnt the most used advanced technique.

wavedashing isnt necessarily cheap, but it isnt really that important, i use it sometimes, but i use other techniques more...

-sorry for not using multiquote, i always forget about it...

How on earth is that a fact that "pros will always use it and scrubs will always whine about it"? You haven't even seen me play. Of course I cannot prove anything to you without a match, but believe me when I say I'm pretty good at the game. I just feel like wavedashing takes away from the experience.

As to Red's comment. Yeah, I joined not that long ago. But that should not go against me being credible in my arguments. I've played both smash brothers games since day 1. I'm a big fan of the series, I joined the boards because it seems like it would get some inside information at times. I also thought it might be awesome to maybe get some wii console numbers to face new challengers.

Anyway, you make a decent point about snaking and wave dashing. While they are not exactly the same (which I never claimed they were if you read my wording carefully) they are very very similar. They are two "methods" of play that are in the game unintentionally. It just ruins what the game was originally meant to be. That's all I am saying. I'm not trying to start a another fight about this, but I am just tired of people complaining about losing wavedashing. It was not suppose to be in the smash series to begin with.

I've made myself clear.

You guys act as if I am going to HATE BRAWL. All of you need to calm down...i am PUMPED about Brawl...i just think that nintendo has been hyping it up soooo much (as micro did for halo) so it better kick ***.

Look at Halo 3 now..i hardly know anyone who plays that anymore....Call of duty 4 owns it sooo badly.

Marth for Brawl!

and wavedashing is not important? I am sure more than half of you wavedash all the time....hyprocites.

Wavedashing is sick and i love to wavedash with marth...it is half of my approach game and it helps me space myself nicely for Fsmashes. It will ust be weird to use that gamecube controller and not be able to wavedash.

If you guys are true smash fans you will be using that disgusting/horrible classic controller, wiimote, or combination setup....Gamecube controller all the way!

no one likes the threads on why brawl may suck, unfortunately its a thought we all our facing. i dont doubt it will keep me happy for quite some time. i DO however greatly fear the hype on its online play. Have any of you gone online in tenkaichi 3? its a very sad sight to think brawl could share a problem as big as that because of nintendos inexperience with online play. i dont know enough about wifis abilities and i hope they get it right. Do any of you know how much of a problem brawl faces with this?

Yes this game is going to be "T H A T" good.

People snivel at the fact that wavedash is OUT. Too bad. Deal with it and get over it.

Levels are spectacular, actually. Maybe you don't have good taste in creativity...and that's okay.

It runs completely different because they have a new engine to run it on. They are expanding the formulas used for the physics of the game, and are interweaving new ideas into the already established mechanics of the game. THATS HOW GAMES ARE IMPROVED UPON. Get the **** over it!

Nintendo has a right to hype it up, since it's already an incredible game judging from the demo I've had the fortunate opportunity to play in Los Angeles.

The demo itself felt like a whole game in itself. There were plenty of playable characters, a lot of stages, and a lot of items. If someone had the demo at home, you'd be able to play it for ever and feel like you're playing a complete game. It was about the size of Smash 64.

The game is polished, NOT SLOW, smooth, easy to control, feels balanced, and stunning. And that's from the DEMO, which was manufactured and printed BEFORE they announced the delay. So imagine how much better it's going to look and feel when it's released.

Brawl will be epic, and you're worrying about stupid crap that shouldn't even be an issue. Obviously, you care about what snobby sites like IGN say about the game and are wary to celebrate the success this game will have.

So, you make a topic trying to de-hype this game and invalidate the fans' anticipation of the epic-ness of Brawl. Sad. (PS: don't try to say that you're not, because you are. Re-read your post and realize that everything I said about you is correct)

Watch these videos and stop trying to get people to join your anticipation for disappointment when the game is released.
